Re: What am I missing? £20k ish choice
Driven no, but everything I read about all 4-matic cars, (so GLC, C43, E43, E63 etc) and the videos I've seen show the issue. It's not just about the skipping (which can only be 'mitigated by AW tyres) but the associated accelerated tyre wear. Merc themselves released a statement saying that becaus...

Have you driven a c43? The tyre scrubbing is a non issue unless you drive everywhere on full lock.

Re: Mk1 Golf GTi
The interior and exterior is complete, work was done by Dave around 7 years ago.
My knob turned up this morning.
It’s a bit smaller than I thought it would be.

Re: Mk1 Golf GTi
I don’t really run this car low as I prefer to drive the shit out of it without worrying if it will catch, with this in mind I wanted to check the sump clearance because the 20vT engine is a taller engine than my old kr. The mounts I’ve had made have raised it just enough so that it sits bang on per...

https://i.imgur.com/c1p7f7Pl.jpg This is the tubular jbs manifold fitted with the turbo, I bought a full stainless steel bolt set, simply because it’ll be nice to keep everything looking neat and tidy. Still in the mocking up phase, I’m not trying to do a clean engine bay so have told them to route...

Next up was engine in... https://i.imgur.com/7LjezBA.jpgl And then bolt up the drive train, and tbh even though I’d read it, researched it and was told it would be ok actually having a hybrid system of mk1 golf hubs, mk2 g60 brakes, late cabriolet driveshafts (thicker), mk3 16v gearbox, mk3 vr6 clut...

Re: Mk1 Golf GTi
Next up I wasn’t planning on doing this but it came up so cheap that I had to buy it, it’s a digidash2 which has already been in a mk1 with a 20vT, it was originally planned for next winter but well it was just too cheap to turn down and in luck that Scott was able to go round to the guys house and ...

Re: Mk1 Golf GTi
Since then it’s been a case of waiting for bits to be done and buying parts. I’d decided on a mk3 16v gearbox rather than a tdi gearbox as I felt the ratios would better suit a ko3 equipped car rather than a tdi gearbox which was much longer geared. Now that I’ve gone hybrid turbo this may have been...

Re: Mk1 Golf GTi
Back in October the engine came out, the whole 16v conversion was sold for a decent amount. https://i.imgur.com/QMoprhfl.jpg Gave it a quick clean up https://i.imgur.com/Lclbftf.jpg As luck would have it the money from selling my previous engine was burning a whole in my pocket and after a bit of lu...

Mk1 Golf GTi
In the spirit of the reversely named forum, I’m starting my build thread with where I currently am, rather than how I got here. I’ll fill in the details later on for those who don’t know. Intercooler turned in double quick time (ordered yesterday at 10am) so thought we’d mock it up to see how the pi...
