Re: Mountain Biking general thread

I still find my self wrapping my hands over the ends of the bars on a long climb or flat drag even though I haven't had bar ends on a bike in about 20 years. You need to get a flat bar and trim it down to about 12" to get the full retro experience. Me too Zed... Including v narrow bars back in...

Re: E-Bike chumps

Perhaps ebikes will end up being seen as the equivalent of a ski lift; sure you can carry your skis on your shoulders or crab your way up the hill but wtf would you want to? I like my pedal bike and enjoy the exercise of going uphill but if my thing was razzing down black runs etc I would possibly c...

Re: One way streets

Ascender Edinburgh has been shit for at least 20 years for motorists. I remember parking off George St years ago and going for a meal, by the time I was out, I couldn't legally drive out again. It was all bus lanes but when I checked, there was nothing to say you couldn't drive in after so and so o...

Re: No F1 thread?

How does he know that? Hamilton is coming to the end of his career, Russell is just starting and we saw how much quicker he was than Bottas. Maybe he is, but he's stil delivering pretty much every race. And being faster than VB doesn't equal being faster than Lewis. Agreed, love him or hate him Lew...

Re: No F1 thread?

Inside LIne and seemingly all Motorsport websites have pretty much written him off for next year though, a lot of speculation that GR will be alongside Lewis next year. If it happened it would be great, I don't mind VB but he's had his chance and shown that he doesn't have what it takes to consiste...

Re: No F1 thread?

I read on Twitter that Toto threw Bottas under the bus a bit. Said that Bottas was partly to blame as he didn't stop in the exact spot in the pit box, meaning the mechanic had to hold the wheel gun at an offset angle, it didn't engage fully and just stripped the nut. Looking at photos of the pitsto...

Re: Your fleet running reports

Home diagnostics not quite right? Home estimates.... £450 all in. To be fair, most of that was labour, including getting to my hockey stick DRL and fixing a backing plate and the front spring was a pig apparently. Ho hum. I had the gearbox flushed a month or so back and next service isn't for a whi...

Nice that my home diagnosis was accurate and thankfully nothing too expensive either.

Re: No F1 thread?

Quali is always the highlight of Monaco. Race is always a snoozefest (unless it rains). I do feel for Bottas. On his best day he can get close to Lewis and every now and then beat him but if I am watching a race with Bottas just in front of Lewis I assume a pass will happen. If Bottas is behind Lewi...

Decision will be made today. Leclerc in Monaco is like Rubens in Brazil, hopefully he will be fine as it would certainly be some kind of feel good story, poor local boy done good.

large house for a week

I remember this coming up previously but cannot see anything obvious. Thinking of trying to book out a large house somewhere in the UK for 6 adults and 7 kids and possibly a couple of dogs. Air BNB and cottage bookings are just daft money. Has anyone got any companies worth trying? Would happily con...

On Tuesday I ran my kids 6 miles to Scouts in lovely sunshine, on the way home there was a thunderstorm, then a hailstorm with sunshine and triple rainbows to the side. Typical Scottish summer day really.

Re: Modern housing estates

We bought a new build in a new estate. It does have a drive/spaces for two cars at the front and the back is a crappy square. The drainage is awful and if I even did buy new or have one built, my snagging list would be exhaustive as I felt bad about flagging things. Ooops. Reason we bought new was w...

Re: Your fleet running reports

Slight clanking from left side, front to middle I think. Also an "ABS and ESP inactive" warning popped up during a thunder storm with massive hail. Dropped at garage, hoping an ABS ring or similar. I'd have suspected bushes but for the warning but perhaps the rattling knocked a sensor.....

Re: DMS Maps?

For a car like that I would avoid DMS, they will be 2/3 times the price of the normal places - see who’s well regarded on the forums, Celtic tuning did a good job on my crafter and had super chips maps previously. DMS/Lichfield woudl be my go to with the likes of a mclaren 720/ AMG GT-R. Ah cheers....

Re: DMS Maps?

Not used them but have remapped cars. DMS have a good rep. I sent them an email requesting for a quote a few years ago. Sent a couple of follow ups but never got a response. I'd probably call them and see if they actually do want your custom rather than emailing or contacting through the website. C...

Re: DMS Maps?

Not used them but have remapped cars. DMS have a good rep. I can’t say any have improved MPG after their map, but they weren’t any worse, and there was more performance available. The requirements for power don’t change - you have the same mechanical and aerodynamic losses, so unless the oem map is...
