Re: Getting old.

Well I did a first proper ultra training run, only 11 miles, but trails, some inclines and a lot of mud. I have reduced catrilidge in my right hip and it is most dipleased with me being such a dick. I have been advised a strip of K tape will help so will try that, just need to build up as much muscl...

Re: Insurers (of all stripes)

Insurance companies are dicks. Last house insurance was only viewable through a portal to see the whole amount which annoyed me. It only went up a pound or two a month so I saved hassle and stayed put but when you get the coubling and tripling quotations Ieven if they then offer a price match I won'...

Re: Smartwatch v mechanical watch

I had a tongue stud years ago, not fancying a PA though! I have a Suunto 9, having had a 5 and a couple of Garmins prior to that. With the early Gramins I wore a citizen ecodrive or Jorg Gray and just poppedon the sports wtahc for sports but I stupidly left the ecodrive in a drawer and now it doesn'...

Yes, my wife is on various running groups and it was the fact it was being caled an "ultra ultra" that caused people to raise an eyebrow.

Eddie Izzard will be laughing his socks off.

Re: Ultra Marathon - general running thread

Ascender I am doing Isaac's Tea Trail by Greener Miles. Should be challenging without being completely daft, like the Spine race and similar such events. We are starting slow and just building up miles over the coming weeks and months, and upping time on feet. I haven't the lung capacity since Covi...

Ultra Marathon - general running thread

After vascillating for the past couple of years and twice donig relay legs of our local Ultra as well as a few marrathon length multi disciplines I decided to do a full Ultra before turning 50 so next August I will attempt to run 60k. Re: Crumbing parents

Both my parents are 85 and in pretty good health for it. THey have slowed down and are noticably older than a few years back but Dad can still drive and they still mange the garden and house between them. I am regularkly shown where paperwork etc is which is cheery. My wife's Father is having seriou...

Re: Any recommendations for winter tyres?

I am getting two Vredestein Quadracs all seasons put on the Superb today as the ditch finders it came on, have handily worn down a fair bit. Hopefully the backs will be done shortly too. A few discussions on a Superb FB group and the Vredesteins were highly rated, as were crossclimates.

Dave!
I wouldn't discount the chance that it is hundreds of mistaken people.

I am not even sure my amp is plugged in at the mains. I am fairly sure the CD player isn't. I have old Mission speakers, no idea, maybe 732s, and the amp/receiver is a Marantz that retailed around £600 back in the late 90s. Great kit, but if I am WFH I have my phone streaming through a freebie Bluet...

Re: Incorrectly used phrases

Should it not be "Phrases used incorrectly"? does that not imply them at the phrases are correct but their usage is wrong? Looking at the examples, perhaps it should be "morons who have clearly not read a book, mishearing well known phrases, then mangling them by inserting diff...
