Re: Can we have some moderators?

Is this about getting the power Ravi ? Would you like a Sheriffs Badge next to your avatar :) A rusty one? I can confirm that I would abuse any power given to me with hilarious results. Matty, is there a search and replace option that will allow me to change every instance of the phrase 'lease' to ...

Re: Decent Recent TV

Superstition Feels like a discount American Gods, and definitely not up there in terms of writing or production values. Improves once it stops taking itself seriously and gets a bit more camp towards the end of the season. There's definitely some fun to be had there and it has it's moments, but str...

Someone should stop SyFy from....just existing.

Fingers crossed Netflix will pick it up, they seem to have a good history with scifi stuff and don't appear to be shy at throwing money at good properties.

Re: The Movie Thread

Halfway through Nightcrawler review. Because the missus' ten year old came home halfway through, and it's not exactly a PG film. No, it's not X-men - 'nightcrawlers' are the video paparazzi who hunt down crime scenes overnight for the early morning news - which the titular character falls into by a...

Won't argue about the M25, never been on it and not found it full of pricks.

(cruise control set to 75, bring it up to 100 to pass clumps of traffic every so often - without flashing ;) )

Re: FTAO Northerners

Once you start hitting Herts, all hell breaks loose. It's a warzone, bodies everywhere, the burnt out skeletons of Picassos littering the sides of the roads, marauding gangs of leather clad hooligans staking their claim on the wasteland that is Stevenage. Yes, I was obviously being utterly, deadly ...

Now that I regularly hammer up and down the A1M...to be rather more self-important and cunty about driving.

I rush through there, at speed, flashing people out of the way.

Re: FTAO Northerners

Northerners as in Beany? That’s not northern, that’s alien. Quite. Now that I regularly hammer up and down the A1M, you can definitely see a demarcation around Peterborough where people seem to be rather more self-important and cunty about their driving. Once you start hitting Herts, all hell break...

Re: Best car you have ever driven?

Puma.

I've driven a few other cars, but nothing massively interesting (Clio 182, BMW 123d) and not remotely hard because they weren't my cars.

Finished Snow Crash on the drive on this morning. Yep an astounding piece of storytelling. What next? Crypyonomicon had been mentioned, I also have to read Infinity Engine the final of Neal Asher's Transformation trilogy. Cryptonomicon is a good read (And presume, listen) as is Anathem, although An...

Re: Bug guts

If you can, let the dew which forms on your windscreen overnight loosen up the dead insects and go back in the morning with some of that fibreous kitchen towel and whatever window cleaner you have should do the job. Being up early enough for dew? HAHAHAHA. The non-scratch scourers or those sponges ...

Bug guts

Yeah, I haven't really done regular motorway miles in the summer before, so I'm now learning just how bad bugstrikes can be on the screen. It was massively annoying to be peering around a bees exploded arsehole on the way back up from The South yesterday. I cleaned it up on Saturday with just boggo ...

Nowt fancy, and no pics as I was driving, but a caterham R500 in Acme Retina Searing Orange on a drive in WGC at the weekend.

It was bloody hot down there at the weekend so I bet he had a good weekend if he had sticky enough tyres on.

Re: What new old car - Audi A2 v. Mk1 Renault Twingo

I take personal responsibility for this. It won’t happen again. You're being too hard on yourself. It is clearly Beany's fault. I think we all know that the problem was the suggesting of a puma. Clearly, it should have been a Mondeo Titanium X that was suggested, which is now officially the best ca...

Re: Your fleet running reports

BTW don't go the 'halfords can of AC refrigerant' route. AC refrigerant goes by weight, not pressure. Get a pro to fill it. Also, you'll need some lubricant, at least for the o-rings. And if you're changing the condenser it doesn't hurt to pre-fill that with some lubricant too. Good thread here whi...

Re: Your fleet running reports

The hottest May bank holiday weekend since records began has pushed me, gently, tenderly, into the direction of getting the aircon on the Mondeo fixed. In other news, it cruises quite well at a GPS indicated 120 mph. Quite a lot quieter at 100. Drinks a *lot* less fuel at 75 though. I imagine the '...
