Re: Could you do it? (Not FTAO IanF)
Been Lurking And Working (LAW. Would like to submit entry #1 for the 2022 Forum Acronym Awards). Work has been very busy, and being honest I’ve been a bit stressed on and off so been managing my online stuff a little. Quick catch up. 1. New car delivered in October. G20 M340i xDrive which I absolute...

Re: Gran Turismo 7
I was in 6th form when GT2 came out, on the eve of the release they had a PS set up in HMV and were running a time trial on one of the new tracks. The guy running the comp had a ghost that he'd set up, and was saying how he'd practiced and the ghost should help people to see the direction of the tr...

737, yes. But this tiny knobber joystick thing that Airbus has got going on. Just can’t get my head around tweaking a jet down. I wanna Man Handle it.

Still got all mine issue 1 to current. Suppose at some point I may choose to offload them but it will be years yet.

Re: Dogecoin etc
I earned a few BTC from a combination of earlier coins and trading ETH, yes. You kinda have to, otherwise it starts to feel like you’re putting in the hours only for somebody else to take all the benefit.
Re: New car
I'd be quite tempted by an M340d Touring, but the list price plus the options which you need to add means a £20k discount would be required to get me to sign up  Seems everybody defaults to the Touring. I enquired initially over the saloon which is what I wanted. Then when I double checked the...
Re: New car
Mine is £6k off and 2.9% plus I got quite a good deal on the trade-in on the Mini JCW.

Re: Microsoft Flight Simulator
Coming to Xbox Series X in July I believe, fingers crossed! Pity you cant buy a Series X anywhere. I managed to pick up a Honeycomb Alpha yoke for less than RRP a month or so ago, but the Bravo throttle thing is stupid money on eBay so I've left that one well alone until (and if) sense prevails. Da...
New car
Ordered an M340i xDrive in Portimao Blue back in early May, and it was supposed to have been here by now. Been delayed because of the chip shortage (although the BMW dealer doesn't actually know the reason for the delay - they assume this is the cause, trying to get confirmation from BMW). Vis pack,...

Re: Dogecoin etc
I've exited all of my crypto interests. The hate, mixed with the incessant desire to only search for monetary again and exhibit absolutely no interest in the tech benefits at all, has utterly pissed me off, then put me off. To say nothing of the fact that life these days is far too busy to spend tim...

Re: Microsoft Flight Simulator
60% performance increase being claimed for SU5 when it's released later this month. And it's not coming through DirectX 12 either, apparently. Which does rather suggest that the initial release wasn't the best optimised piece of software to ever be released...

Re: Strada magazine
Yes I sub to Magneto and unless they massively change their content, not sure it will appeal to people who weren't already subbing to it, if that makes sense. I know the email makes reference to some modern classics now being included in Magneto, but not convinced. I'm also not convinced (sub depts ...

Re: GT Porsche Magazine
Interesting. Their ad revenue was pretty good when I was writing for them, and even under Kelsey’s shoe string approach it seemed to do ok. Covid-related presumably but at the same time, after Simon Jackson left, the sub editing went downhill IMHO and copy continuity suffered as a result, the schedu...

Re: Microsoft Flight Simulator
DirectX 12 is the next big thing for me, this year hopefully. Should bring some good performance improvements. I’m still using the GTX1070 as cannot get an RTX3080 of course and I refuse to pay twice the RRP for one. Plan on building a new system around it.

Wonder if/when Modern Classics would have died if COVID hadn’t forced the issue.

Still flying this, gets better all the time (if one can overlook the fact each major update seems to introduce a new bug, which is annoying).
Impressive DLC community being built up, too. Flying around London in VR in the H135 from FlightSim.to is kinda cool.

I like the look of it, personally. There's an M4 Comp in white which I occasionally see around here, and it looks good.

Nathan Chadwick who's editing has done various Bauer stuff but was assistant ed on Modern Classics for most of the time it existed. So he's gone to Eau Rouge and Kelsey have re-imagined Car Mechanics as Bargain Cars and are going to presumably now recycle all the Modern Classics content over the ne...
