Re: The Watches Thread

While I don't like that dial, it seems bonkers that Rolex would replace a dial with a different one when servicing. Surely they should only ever replace the dial with a new identical one?

Re: GDPR - anyone here know much about it?

Yes, I'm not expecting much from the conversation hence doing it as an online chat and saving a copy. Dinny, whether or not they needed consent for surveys previously, if I expressly ask them not to contact me about such things then they're going to be in blatant breach of the new regs come 25 May. ...

Re: GDPR - anyone here know much about it?

FWIW I've been unsubscribing spam e-mails for the last couple of years with great success. Only current blatant failure is Mytyres (quelle surprise); when I get their spam now I try to unsubscribe and it tells me I'm already unsubscribed. So I'll be after them later this month too

Re: GDPR - anyone here know much about it?

Oi, not just retired ones! I've just had an online chat with Vodafone to make it clear I don't want to receive any more of their text message spam and surveys. Inspired by this thread, I've saved a copy of the chat so I can evidence my very clear opting out when they still send me annoying stuff aft...

Re: GDPR - anyone here know much about it?

Soft opt-in is very specific - it probably does apply to many people on your company's mailing list, Rev, but it'd be dangerous for plenty of businesses to rely on it: https://ico.org.uk/for-organisations/gu ... marketing/

Re: GDPR - anyone here know much about it?

If you’re after legal advice then you’ve left it too late, to be honest. Our GDPR specialist is booked up for months already. Be wary of any solicitor claiming to specialise in it who has any capacity to advise you currently.

The fact that it can happen is enough for me not to rely on luck.

Re: Been a shitty week

Sad to hear that Mark - I hadn't realised it was so sudden. I haven't lost either of my parents yet (nor even any of my numerous ex-stepmothers) but I don't want to see them getting old and incapable as my grandmother did last year. Not sure losing them this way is better. Hope you're OK.

Re: Parking fine advice please.

Get some proper advice from here - http://forums.pepipoo.com/index.php?showforum=60 Hateful bunch. I posted on there because I’d had a parking ticket at the station despite having paid via the app. There were a few other people who’d had tickets at the station, so I thought there may be a glitch wi...

Re: Commercial property for private use

Business rates. Occupier is responsible for these, and they apply even if you're not using the unit after a relatively short grace period. If you have a commercial lease you are generally responsible for full repair of the building - either by way of a service charge or directly responsible. And com...

Re: For Sells

That takes away the fee issue but does nothing to protect you from scamming buyers. No way I'd sell anything on eBay unless I'd be willing to write off the sale price.

Do the emergency services always scrape the bonnet that way when they cut the roof off?

That's not the only reason I wouldn't sell on eBay. Easiest is to sell to a dealer; it seems Watchfinder sell them as soon as they come into stock.

Re: For Sells

http://forum.tz-uk.com/showthread.php?405126-Tudor-Black-Bay-Heritage-79220N&highlight=79220n There was apparently one of this model (this movement/bexel specifically) sold on eBay a couple of months ago for £3,500. That seems a bit mad to me; but currently there are none available in this count...

For Sells

It seems my Tudor Black Bay, being the first version with ETA movement and black bezel, is a bit of a rarity and prices are going up. And I don't actually wear it much at all; the lack of a date wheel means it's not a useful every day watch for me. With a wedding to pay for next month, I'm planning ...

Am I the only person who has yet to cancel? I quite enjoyed the 20 years of Evo stories in the last couple of issues, which at least means I'll see it out to the 20th anniversary issue around October.

Of course, we really ought to ban the re-use of this image - it's a lazy racist stereotype of Irish priests.

Re: New Tyres?

I used Blackcircles last time, for the few quid saving over Tyresonthedrive and the others who come to you. Wish I hadn't bothered: - the fitting place I chose on the basis it was open on Saturday mornings wasn't, but I didn't find out until I'd already placed the order so had to choose somewhere le...
