Re: EV Thread

I wonder if that would need an Oversail Licence from the Highway Authority... Almost certainly that or a highways licence. You can't stick a sandwich board or other temporary structure on or over the highway without a highways licence and this is permanent. Pavement is part of the highway of course...

Re: UFH Problem

:D

New valve head fitted this morning. Guy was surprised at the state of the manual lever and said the same as you @jamcg - likely done during install and that he takes the heads off when fitting valves.

Hopefully that's the last of the issue. Still, I know a lot more about the system now!

Re: UFH Problem

Cheers jamcg Will see what this guy says in the morning tomorrow. Would the valve still function as it should if the lever is in the locked open position? That's the bit I'm struggling to get my head around to be honest - the fact that my tinkering seems to have allowed it to pump and then stop even...

Re: UFH Problem

Further update. Now the rooms with UFH aren't calling for heat, the pump for the UFH has stopped etc. But the valve's lever is still stuck in the open position. So not sure how that works with calling the boiler as at present the controls aren't calling the the valve, but the valve appears to still ...

Re: UFH Problem

I've had a tinker earlier and I'm fairly sure that the lever on the valve has been mullered by someone in the past. Can't think who though as it shouldn't have been touched since installation, but maybe it was when installed. Anyway, I took the lid off it and gave it some thorough poking, including ...

Looks like a job for a persuader. https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/61ArLb+hecL._AC_SY300_SX300_.jpg I have already tried the Manchester hammer mik . No budge. If I weren't supposed to be working I'd be disconnecting the valve motor and having a look inside and also checking that the va...

Re: UFH Problem

If the rest of your heating is fine it’s unlikely to be a pressure related thing. Also there’s not usually a pressure gauge attached to these things, only a couple of temperature dials as shown in your picture, so pressure would be checked at your boiler- provided it is a pressurised system. As the...

UFH Problem

Do we have any folks on here knowledgeable about underfloor heating? Came home from a short break tonight to find it not working. All other heating fine. I can see the actuators are working but worried it looks like there's no pressure in the system. Pic of how it looks: http://gallery.ov9.co.uk/ima...

Re: Tedious but traditional New Car thread

Odd. The TC on my E91 is fairly crude and doesn't really allow any slip. I was sat trying to join a roundabout the other day (one of those where you have to go for any gap you see or you'll be there all day) and it refused to move even on a light foot. The 125i used to allow a bit of slip so ...

The TC on our F20 125i was a lot more relaxed than the TC on my E91, so yeah, I'd imagine they could be fairly amusing

Bloody hell that looks nice @GG.

You can't go wrong with a souffle and simply* prepared fish

*I'm sure it wasn't that simple to prepare but you get my drift.

Paid £196 last year for the 330 - £1 less than the year before. Fairly happy with how cheap the E91 has been for insurance in the time I've had it!

Nah. For one, RichB bought Gavster's E30 waaaaaaaay back, possibly last century.
We bought a chap's 125i as well before he moved abroad. Can't recall his username though.

Re: Range Rover.

'twas a glib remark about the industry in general to be honest. By the time they sort it, if the cars are still as sought after, they'll just break in and look for the keys. As they would have done if they'd stuck with keys all along. I don't like keyless though. It was great on my 197 but I don't t...

Re: Range Rover.

I wonder if they've ever thought about maybe using something like, I don't know, an actual key. The lengths they're going to to make the tech work for the convenience factor whilst keeping the crims out has me wondering if that convenience is really worth the ££hassle.
