Re: AI
Having flounced away from having to do anything code related about 6 months ago because "it's too hard" and it's "nerd stuff" I have now re-embraced it by using chatgpt or copilot to write simple R scripts for me. For the most part, it simplifies it right down, although it can't ...

Re: Decent Recent TV
True Detective - Series 4 concluded last night on a very satisfactory ending. It's been very good overall - I'd rate it second behind Series 1 but ahead of Series 3 and the, frankly pretty poor series 2. Very atmospheric, very claustrophobic, some great characters and performances (especially Boxer...

Re: y'day
I work in a heart and lung hospital.
On the lung wards, ICD means “intercostal drain” (chest drain).
On the heart wards, ICD means “implantable cardioverter defibrillator”.
These are very different things.
It is unhelpful.

Re: Charidee
What really gets me is the way some of them seem to genuinely get angry as if they are entitled to your money. Some numpty from the air ambulance did this to me so I told him I thought his charity was a waste of time because 95% of their patients die anyway.
Re: Charidee
I tend to come up with escalating excuses in these situations. A recent favourite was “I’m sorry but I need a poo” delivered in a clipped Radio 4 tone.
Re: y'day
Abbreviations must be approved organisation wide otherwise confusion will arise. Respond with prejudice.

Re: Harry’s Garage
Not the first time I have heard that, and I can believe it. Steve Cropley once heavily implied that it was him repeatedly asking "Are you okay, are you okay 'Arry?" twenty or more times during an impassioned defence of the Mondial that gave rise to the song's notorious chorus.

Re: Harry’s Garage
Harry was - famously - Michael Jackson's inspiration for the Smooth Criminal video. https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/3/32/Smooth_criminal_video.jpg Apparently it was a 1980s Metcalfe describing that a Maserati was emitting "the sound of a crescendo" that inspired much of the song.

Re: Harry’s Garage
That said, it does have a much better front end and interior than before. Rear end still looks fussy though. I'd still buy an AMG GT over it though I think (especially given they're available for a reasonable price) and a 911 over either... which is what I did. I would love to have seen some of th ...

Re: EV Thread
You probably have a LFP battery which is preferable to charge to 100% at least once a week so it calibrates range properly. The non LFP Teslas have a graphics above the battery with a recommended daily charge rate which is like 60-80% I'm aware the LFP batteries are better in terms of battery cycle...
Re: EV Thread
I'm a '22 standard range plus mod 3. Pro charging to 100 - Tesla does some sort of calibration thing when you fully charge it - It gives me "what if" range Con charging to 100 - It may or may not shag the battery, and to what degree I have no idea Another complicating thing is I use off pe...
Re: EV Thread
I still have absolutey no idea whether I should fully charge my car or not. The only info Tesla want to give is that you should charge it fully about once a week but what is optimal for daily charging I have no idea. I currently go for 75% most of the time and only run it up to full when I am going ...

Re: Your fleet running reports
Quite disconcerting but there are several reports of it on t'internet and the general consensus seems to be that its nothing to worry about. Anyway, its under warranty so I guess it isn't... Porsche seems, more than any other manufacturer, to have really disquieting tics which are within the range ...

Re: EOTR MX-5 100th Anniversary Super 220
There has been a bit on the forum of late regarding MX5s which has led me to re-evaluate them as an 'evo' car. A friend has one that is about 10 years old and definitely a hoot to barrel around corners in. Perhaps I should take another look?
Great write up of a lovely looking car!
