Re: Primary school shenanigans

And here comes my argument all over again: Are you advocating for the removal of a so-called religious indoctrination, to be replaced by your atheist indoctrination instead? First paragraph of my post - "teach holistically and impartially", don't "base admission and syllabus on relig...

Re: Primary school shenanigans

Neil, loads of what you assume happens just doesn't and isn't happening. Symbolism, yes. But every school has a school crest and moto, ban those too. Yes it's a tribe, they have their own shit logo, but that's how they brand themselves and you can take it or leave it. As i say, the government can't...

Re: Primary school shenanigans

As for religious indoctrination, if this is the aim of the schools, they're doing a piss-poor job of it; my 13 year old attended a C of E Primary and is currently at a C of E high school. He's a devout atheist. Good on your lad! Religious indoctrination doesn't have to mean the school is a producti...

Re: Primary school shenanigans

None of those things happen though. I'm a governor at a C of E school and I'm a devout atheist. As are my kids who attend the school. Church schools don't get additional resources from the government, they get less, because they are funded in part by the sky-pixie crew. Religious indoctrination? Wh...

Re: Primary school shenanigans

Yeah, fucking faith schools with their good results and lack of violence. Ban them. 🙄 I think you can put that eye roll away, good sir, unless you're genuinely going to try to defend a system where everybody pays, but only those willing to pledge allegiance to a particular cult get access to an eve...

Re: Primary school shenanigans

I have a friend in south London who had to pretend to be Greek Orthordox for three years so her son could go to the only school in the catchment area without regular stabbings/shootings. In the UK we have c.10% church attendance, and 53% self-identify as "having no religion", so why do we...

Re: What's wrong with yours?

Well, a minor update to the original post - Disco water pump now fixed. Drivers door still doesn't open on the central locking, but I can live with that. Westfield is also now hot to trot - all the ECU-based map twiddling is finished, and it looks like a fresh set of plugs will sort the starting pro...

Re: What's wrong with yours?

Mik - not massively happy with using radweld at the best of times, but the ajp engine has some particularly narrow water galleries in the head, and the idea of a blockage leading to top end hot spots gives me the heebeejeebees. Needs done properly imo. The bonnet catch is a funny arrangement (quelle...

What's wrong with yours?

My lot seem to be having their time of the month again - why do they all seem to always break at the same time? Jag - excessive float in the diff. Needs rebuilding. Three week queue with the gearbox man. Plus I don't have access to a ramp anywhere that I can leave the car for the week it'll t...
