Re: FECPOTY 2018

I bought a 2004 Accord with 200k on it 2 years ago for £900. I've had to replace the brakes and clutch, aside from that it's been completely reliable. I've done another 30k in it without a problem. I'm amazed at how well cars last these days. As someone (Beany?) mentioned earlier, can you imagine a ...

Re: Christmas - what ya doing?

I was going to be spending it with my sister and niece. But, a short notice job has come up, so instead I'm flying out to site on Monday and don't return until the 8th of January.
Never mind, it's only going to be 40°C...

Re: Boiler

I know it's not quite what you're asking for as it's a GSHP. But, I used to live in a house that was heated by one of these https://www.kensaheatpumps.com/ . It seemed to work very well, and I don't remember the heaters being much, if any, larger than normal. The house was an old cottage, but reason...

Re: Bye Bye Boris!

I'm torn between green and lib dem. I live in Geffory Cox's constituency, so I'm be fairly sure that he's going to win regardless, unfortunately. In which case, I think it's more showing that the climate change/environment/green policies are the issues that matter to voters. As well as a fundamental...

8-) - where was that??

A wind chilled -40’s the lowest I’ve been to. Moscow in February.
Northern Canada. A place called Snow Lake funnily enough. That was a particularly vicious winter. It rarely seemed to get above -30

Re: Warm Coat

I have of of these https://arcteryx.com/gb/en/shop/mens/kappa-hoody it's over 6 years old now and still going strong. Not completely waterproof, but it will keep a heavy shower off. I often wear it with just a t-shirt underneath and I'm plenty warm enough. But I've also worn it with a couple of base...

Re: Toyota Land Cruiser

I'd imagine this is making the Aussies worried, it's practically their national vehicle. There must be 100's of thousands just on the mine sites alone. The 70 is just unbeatable for sheer practicality. We had a few hilux's on site and they were just a big ball of fuck after 6 months underground, whe...

Swerv, have you tried National Trust properties local to you? Several near me make their own charcoal from the local woodlands.

Re: People not looking when driving

Not looking, not paying attention, generally not giving a shit about others (blocking junctions, pulling over in stupid places) blatantly using phones, being too stupid to understand 'smart' motorways (driving on the H/S when there's a big red cross and signs saying "for emergency use only&quo...

M The thing he's most pissed about, is that he was just a couple of miles from home after a week away on a biking holiday with his brother, and this what the only time that anything happened. Bike is a write off too. I think he's only had it for just over a year. All because someone didn't bother t...

People not looking when driving

Just got off the phone to the old man, who just told me that he had a motorbike accident 2 weeks ago. A) Daft bugger for not telling me sooner - his excuse was that it's already happened, there's not much that telling me can do about it  B) Why can people look where they're going? He was in th...

Photo opportunity of all the 2's missed on the accord. :( Just replaced disks and pads all round. PS4's in each corner and new plugs. I think the thermostat could do with renewing too, I doubt that it's ever been replaced. It's a shame that it was rather neglected by the previous owner(s), as it's b...

Re: Internal IT

I may well be missing the obvious here, but why do the lights need Bluetooth? They’re controlled by an app so each team in the open plan office could control the lights without having to put light switches somewhere (difficult with no walls). You could set up “scenes” within an area (colour, bright...

Tummel Bridge to Killiecrankie isn't too bad if you avoid it in caravan season. But you're right, there are some fantastic roads the next glen over so to speak.

I didn't realise that you were lift sharing with Beany.

Saw my first F40 the other day and a McLaren of some sort. There's also an absolutely mint mk1 fiesta being driven by an old guy in the village. How it hasn't succumbed to road I don't know.
