Re: Your fleet running reports
The Transit van has been sold, first to see will buy, and so it was. Fed up with wankers in my street thinking they live somewhere posh and complaining about a van being parked within 100ft of their house. Also it was a bit OTT for what I ended up using it for, so I'll probably get a T5 like everyon...

Re: eBay 996 build thread
What I want is a de-stroked LS3, which is the 6.2 block with the crank from the 4.8 Vortec for 5.6 litres and (with appropriate parts) 600+bhp and 9000rpm. Not cheap, but not as expensive as it sounds. That's what I'd like for the Spazda (mit Quaife sequential box) but even though the big bits (blo...

Re: eBay 996 build thread
I do love how people always think changing to a completely different engine is such an easy job  Often the engine swap is the easy bit (although adapting engine A to gearbox B can be a challenge if you're blazing a new path). It's getting all the other crap like the instruments, A/C, and so on...

Re: eBay 996 build thread
I'd still K20 turbo swap it, as I think this would boil peoples piss even more than a LS, and you could do it all for cheap with ebay parts.

Re: Your fleet running reports
Second attempt at MoTing the Spazda this mornig... https://i.imgur.com/TVgcjiE.jpg Everything went ok, the repaired fan kept the temps down but I'll fit another one. It is not a nice car to drive on the street  it's hot, noisey and uncomfortable, I seriously want to get a trailer so I can tow i...

Re: Your fleet running reports
, but I've chickened out on the fuel filter as you need to prime stuff and I've no idea what I'm doing with that (diesel noob), so I'll get an adult to do it for me. The Spazda has its MoT in the morning...thoughts and prayers... Just fill the new filter with diesel and you won’t have a problem. On...

Re: Your fleet running reports
I did a service on the van today as the light had come on a while back, it has some sort of oil quality sensor apparently. I was expecting it to be a bit of a struggle as the oil drain bolt and filter housing are hidden behind the transfer box and an extra chassis brace that rear wheel drive vans do...

Re: New Car
Does anyone have any recommendations for Porsche-friendly 2nd car (i.e. no NCB) insurers? Admiral are coming up as the cheapest on the Meerkat at £735 at the moment. My 10 years NCB only gets £200 off that, for comparison. Try Competition Car Insurance, I just insured the Spazda with them. Includes...

https://youtu.be/Q8lMxYnGIrw Looking at the comments got me wondering what a snatch block was. I hesitantly googled it, and learned this https://www.safetyliftingear.com/news/post/heavy-duty-snatch-block What a bunch of fucking retards. I don't offroad but that strap snapping was in the post from t...

Re: The Ambitious Plans of Scuderia Cameron Glickenhaus
Question though, what was the F40 business lesson? Did they build to many, too few or just enough(-1)? All following supercars seemed to work their production numbers downwards from that point on. I think there are a few reasons for this, it helps to negate the embarrasment of not selling them all,...

Re: The Ambitious Plans of Scuderia Cameron Glickenhaus
Sounds like they may be overreaching slightly by doing too much at once, these supercar businesses seem to have long gestation periods and I'm not sure that can be shortcut.
That NHTSA end-run might be subject to review should there be a change of regime.

Re: No Longer the New New Thing
. If they go 100% flat then it can fuck them, but as long as there is no drain on them (don't leave the lights on  ) then they'll sit there for months without losing any charge, so Dark current in vehicle development is a bloody nightmare, I could well believe McLaren had a drain they couldn't...

Re: No Longer the New New Thing
I think he had previously posted on this. I believe on the P1 if, for whatever reason, you let the battery drain to zero (i.e. your trickle chargers dies or power trips off whilst you're away), you have to replace the whole battery pack  Here you go: The downsides to this are the extra 155 Lbs...

Re: Arrival: McLaren Senna
As I've never seen a Senna IRL I'll hope it falls into the "unphotogenic but actually really nice" bin along with the Lotus Evora and Alpine A110, hope it looks better in the carbon, certainly the blue is a cool choice. They're not much better in the flesh, but then you can't see it when ...
