Re: EV Thread

No, just got chatting to some Truck folks at a show. I'm on the financial services side but the technology is amazing. Did you know Mercedes Trucks have 5 separate braking systems all working in unison, including a restriction system on the valves for mechanical braking as well as a system on the d...

Depending on where you're based, Reg Local seems to be a good shout.

He has a thread on boatshoes: https://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/top ... &t=1593359

Re: EV Thread

Really interesting to hear the lengths Mercedes goes to to keep trucks on the road though A good portion of Mercedes Trucks, when the come back of 3 year Lease Deals are brought to a facility up Barnsley way, converted to left hand drive and sold onto the continent where they live on for 10 more ye...

Re: EV Thread

Any haulier who’s trucks run close to 44 tonnes probably won’t be interested in electric trucks. The weight of the tractor unit is crucial. Current tractor units are circa 8 tonnes. Based on the above, an electric one would be in the region of 13 tonnes. The next issue is charging time. Depending on...

Re: Camping trailers and towing them

I’d look at the below - Brenderups tend to have a good chassis and A-frame tow hitch. Or IW’s as Mito has suggested. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/175299987144?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=rUwplKkESUO&sssrc=2349624&ssuid=Z5ah7vROR8C&var=&widget_ver=artemis&...

Re: Camping trailers and towing them

Thanks @mikeyb. One with a lockable lid seems a good plan. If evonomics massively kicks in, following the 'get bigger if you can' advice, this one . You're welcome Jon. The lid comes in handy, particularly as I had to unhitch the trailer and leave it in a car park whilst in Oban. It may just be tha...

Re: Camping trailers and towing them

I bought a trailer for tip runs but it doubled up as a camping trailer for recent stay-cations (although strictly speaking it's probably a camping trailer that doubles up as a tip run trailer). Having two dogs taking up the boot space and a fiancé that seems to want to take everything, we’ve had to ...

Re: The juciest petrol?

£345 https://www.bigfishgarage.co.uk/ It's good to hear a recommendation for Big Fish. I am undecided between them, Darkside Developments and Unicorn Motorsport Developments for remapping the 330d. I'd definitely recommend them, where are you based? Based in Cumbria, so I'd be travelling for a rema...

Re: Ineos Grenadier

A local dealer to me (Lloyds) have announced a partnership with Ineos, meaning there will be an Ineos showroom in Carlisle. I'll have to pop in when it's open, to have a mooch around :)

Re: The juciest petrol?

Place called Big Fish Tuning, I've used them before and they have a good reputation. They estimate 230bhp and 400nm. How much is it, Zonda? My local decently thought of tuner had the ingenium engines rated as quite a lot lower than what they said so you might notice even more of a difference than y...

Re: The juciest petrol?

Esso Supreme 99 is supposed to have the lowest proportion of ethanol. Bro runs that in his GR Yaris. Take care that if they map it aggressively on any 'Super' then it will likely rule out being able to run the car on 95/10% stuff if you ever needed to. Unless they can provide switchable maps or som...

Re: The juciest petrol?

A mate had his supercharged VXR8 mapped for super and it was a nightmare doing the NC500 as he was constantly concerned about where he could get good fuel from. The alternative would be octane booster. I can recommend the Royal Purple Max Boost. I always carry a bottle of octane booster when I driv...

Re: End of an era

I too received the same email but I was expecting it, as I cancelled my DD a couple of months ago (quarterly DDs). I just don't seem to have the time to read them. The content seems paired back and/or irrelevant to what I want to read. A shame really, as I've subscribed for many years (albeit not fo...

Re: 4 Paw Dog Drive Fleet running report

I don't post a lot on here but I need little excuse to post pictures of my dogs! Buster (Springer) is just over four years old. Diesel (lab) is 2.5. Buster has always been 'my' dog whereas Diesel was always my partner's dog. Diesel didn't have the best start to life, his first owner had him crated a...

Re: 4 Paw Dog Drive Fleet running report

Lovely wee pup, how goes the healing of your now 2nd youngest pup? Doing great - follow-up xrays today funnily enough showing good healing, and everything is now tight like it should be (in ligament terms. Still only lead walks at the moment but that's OK. Try to walk her at the pace she is willing...

snapped cranks. Hmm, this is the sort of thing which puts me off JLR products. I imagined the occasional electrical quirk, not fundamental issues like cranks snapping  Maybe an iPace would be safer. I do like the iPace. It was good fun to hoon around Knockhill on the Jaguar experience day (a f...
