Re: Test drive report

The one I liked best on a test drive was the Emira. They seem to have depreciated another couple of grand since I drove it though - in less than a week. So I am keeping an eye on prices. Forgot to mention the other thing about the ID Buzz which was rather nice: everyone looked at it and smiled. Defi...

Re: Test drive report

Sorry Duncs - it isn’t curved but I don’t really know what to call it. The estate agent referred to it as a breezeway 😂 Matt, I haven’t won the lottery and I’m not terminally ill if that’s what you were referring to. The Buzz was a bit of a folly; my wife liked the look of it but I expected I’d find...

Re: Motorway Mile Munchers

Those tyres are from 2015 - I thought the car was earlier than that? Either way, they’re 9 years old and your dad already had a sideways moment so probably worth replacing 😂

Re: Petrol Honda mowers

I had to do our old house yesterday as well and that’s why I’m knackered. It takes as long to mow there as it does the new one despite being 1/3 the size due to the awkward bits round the edges, and it’s more tiring because of all the manoeuvring. But you’re right, I may find someone to cut it;

Here is the ad for the car itself: http://www.autotrader.co.uk/car-details/202312114717238

And here is the salesman guiding me very carefully to check if it fits:

Re: Test drive report

That would have been the garage once but the previous owner knocked it through and made a big new drive to the rear. So here’s the fuller review. My wife spotted an ID Buzz for sale at the Skoda dealership between Worcester and Malvern; I’d been there before to service our Yeti and knew they were a ...

Re: Petrol Honda mowers

The pile of rotting grass clippings is slippery to walk on and the bits which stick to your boots look like cow pats when you walk them round the place. I did end up using all four mowers today, and my feelings about the HRH have been reinforced; it’s not for me. I think I’ll keep it until Honda do ...

Re: Test drive report

I don’t want to type a TL:DR on my phone but we test drove a VW ID Buzz today and it was fabulous. But it doesn’t fit under the arch to our drive. https://i.imgur.com/nt3GmSB.jpeg That’s the very nice salesman doing the reflectoporn. I’ll write a bit more about it when I’m less cream-crackered. But ...

See this is why I enjoyed arguing on PH more, you’re both wrong but I think in general you’re both decent dudes so I don’t really want to be a dick  I think the policy is wrong so I don’t disagree with you. What I object to is this government coming up with crap populist policies which don’t e...

I just got rid of the wheels I was going to put on mine - they had been sat in the garage a while because I bought the Jimny 4 years ago. Still like them. Would not go for the 2.4 due to engine block cracks.

Re: Test drive report

The Cyberster looks good but I don’t know what it is. Is it a Chinese attempt at a British sports car with some detail changes made in the U.K.? I’d rather have an MG that was knocked up in a shed by plucky British engineers.

It's a manuel, and the most notable feature is a drive-by-wire clutch that allows the engine to switch off whilst being automatically and simultaneously decoupled from the transmission when you are on the motorway (or local equivalent) at speed, and you head down a hill, or deactivate the cruise to...

Re: Car Hire Lottery

Not sure if this car is broken, my 740d was pretty much the same engine with a higher tune in a bigger car and would do 40+ for the same journey, even my 550 will do between 17 and 20 mpg, even in traffic. https://i.ibb.co/g6x0vDB/IMG-0699.jpg That does look shit, but 12 miles at an average of 14mp...

You can’t even see that you’re falling into that “well surely they won’t punish the “genuine” claimants” fallacy. Every single time a government does something like this sick and disabled people end up getting hurt. I assume you’re replying to me rather than Dave. I’m not falling into any fallacy -...

Re: Petrol Honda mowers

I don’t really feel like I need the compost and it’ll be mainly grass so probably not that fertile. But if the heap of clippings starts to look useful then I might formalise it a bit. Really, mulching ought to be the way to go but I reckon I’d want to cut it twice a week to make that work and I can’...

Re: Bye Bye Sunak..

There’s no way that a supermarket (for example) is going to accept a situation where anyone can sign themselves off. For most service jobs not producing a sick note for any absence longer than three days is a disciplinary offence. The law is generally pro-employee. You think the change is going to ...

Re: Bye Bye Sunak..

I assume that you’re being facetious? Employers won’t accept self certification for a longer term or recurring illness. I'm not being facetious but I don't think you're seeing it the way I do. If a sick note is not obtainable, there is no way to certify sickness except self-cert. So employers are g...
