Re: Mini Cooper S/Works

Ah brilliant, thank you! Broccers just did a quick comaprison site for a Cooper, an S and a Works. Thanks, I suspect, to the loss of he two cars, I am between 450 and 550 so not too huge a difference. Now, will my wife believe me when I say a Works will hold it's value.. actually she might, as the T...

Re: Mini Cooper S/Works

Late to the party here, sorry ! I just checked and our S was registered July 2011. It has the N18 so I guess it’s a 2012 “model year” thing rather than 2012 production. The Clubman I had last year had the N14 engine. The N18 is definitely nicer to drive. The headline power isn’t a huge jump but the...

Re: Mini Cooper S/Works

Thanks all! So is the Cooper engine a different block? Would a 2009, say, Cooper be relatively OK?

Mini Cooper S/Works

I cannot find the info online regarding whether the Works got the N18 engine in 2012 or if it had uprated ancilliaries and therefore did not suffer from the chocolate turbo failures I was warned of ages ago when I considered a Cooper S. Is an S without the N18 worth the risk, will they have had bett...

Re: Your fleet running reports

Well the Mini made it into the garage, no leaks, no loosened mounts or suspension bits. It does need a new hub as that was causing the ABS light, it needs discs and pads, 3 tyres, and some other stuff this year, about a grand if all goes well, and will need "substantial work" on the "...

Re: Would you UK honours?

I saw a meme which said "which group wouyld you rather be assocviated with" and I found that I much preferred the "no ta" group to the money grubbing parasites who had acepted. Of course some good guys get one - Sir Mo Farah for instance, but the idea that a security risk to the ...

Re: Your fleet running reports

Well I am very much hoping it is an engine mount. THen work out what is causing te brake orange light and pop some air in to get rid of the air pressure light and swap out the coroded subframe and it may just get through an MOT.

Re: Your fleet running reports

£250 for a whole new engine. @scotta how much to fit it though? That is remarkbly cheap though but not sure I can be bothered with the hassle. More likely to seel spares or repair f it it on the way out, someone will fancy it no doubt. Probably a days labour for a competent garage. The boys had the...

Re: Your fleet running reports

Drove my wife's Mini Cooper today for the first time in ages. Weird having to remember what a clutch is but the engine sounded absolutely awful, like a knocking lowdown in 5th at 55mph ish. I am sure it did not sound like that when we got it but not sure my wife would notice on her short commute as...

Re: The Cats are good too thread

A friend of mine has 2 Maine coon mosters. They are massve fluffy things, apparently more like dogs in that they are happy lazing about. One of them decided to use me as it's bed for most of our visit. I don't like cats particularly but I quite like this one.
