Re: State of the Roads
Weirdly on my commute they repaired a foot square section of road where the top inch or so of surface had broken away, and the damaged drain surround I reported, but not the massive pothole 1/4 mile away I reported at the same time which is about 8 inches deep and spewing out rocks, which someone ha...

Re: Your fleet running reports
Propshaft donut turned up so today I stuck the propshaft back on, the cleaned up brackets, the repaired heat shields, attached the exhaust with nuts and bolts. I had to make a new bracket which holds the exhaust downpipe to the gearbox as the old one just fell to bits. Put the car on the ground and ...

Re: Bright light, bright light!
I was going to mention that, I’m pretty sure it was a common mod on r33 skylines.
I’ve no idea how it would have worked on something like the P1, assume it was changed / updated somehow.

Re: Bright light, bright light!
There used to be some silly things, like lotus not being able to illuminate both rear lights each side as the box draw around the lamps included the bodywork inbetween which made them not bright enough for the total area. By illuminating just one the box was drawn around that single lamp which made ...

Re: Bright light, bright light!
Ie, I followed a qashqai earlier. These are the rear lights,
How much of it was the brake lights?
This bit marked in green got brighter. Why so stingy with brake lights??

Re: Bright light, bright light!
I’m not sure matrix leds on all cars is the solution, I find the multiple light points of complex led headlights far more distracting and create more glare and secondary reflections then the single bright point of a halogen or hid projector. Legislation just doesn’t seem to have kept up with technol...

Re: For the FTAO of JL
The part number for the exhaust manifold studs for the car he bought it for was 2trxz778b so seemed an ideal match
Tbh £1500 was a decent price, I probably wouldn’t pay the £6k or so it would probably cost now.

Re: Clocks changing
The merc one is buried in an awkward menu system, quite fun watching the analogue hands swing all the way round if you get the button sequence right. The mito one is very easy, but you can only do it when the car is stationary, when I’m on the way to work paying attention to the time I don’t have ti...

Re: For the FTAO of JL
I’m not sure 4 digit plates are worth the premium over a dateless 5 digit unless it has a particular meaning to you or has sentimental value. Sometimes they can look a bit too small. A 5 digit + space will let you fit a uk font bumper onto a usa / Japanese / small format European recess or plinth an...

They were about £60k for anything half decent when I last looked a few years ago and realised I was unlikely to ever own one.

Re: Your fleet running reports
Have spent the long weekend changing the clutch, fitting a new metal pivot pin to replace the rubbish plastic ones, changed all the metal hard lines for the rear brakes and changed all the hoses for braided ones with stainless fittings. Also cleaned up a few crusty brackets, bent a couple of things ...

Re: Hive mind: opinion on this polo
Step daughter has a polo of that shape for 5 years. I think it’s needed rear dampers, a battery and some brakes, can’t remember doing anything else to it. Parts have been dirt cheap.
1.4 though so no direct experience of the 1.2, but feels smooth, comfortable and pretty solid.

Re: The ebay thread
I always think these car based trailers must tow terribly because of the rear wheel position unless you use something with a big rear overhang.
I guess most are just for occasional car show things anyway.

Re: Your fleet running reports
An afternoon of changing pads today. Rears on the X5 https://i.ibb.co/mcYTDjR/IMG-0105.jpg All very pleasant, nothing seized, didn’t cut my wrists open, it even stayed sunny and I worked in an old tatty £5 t-shirt ;) What year X5 is it? The whole layout looks virtually identical to my first gen X5....
