I reckon Merc have taken the decision to turn the engines up for the last race. Party Mode Plus, for sure.

Re: No F1 thread?
What a lap from Hamilton in Q2. Kimi in 3rd is closer in time to the elimination zone than he is to Hamilton’s time.

Re: New purchase
My stepdad and my grandad had Cortinas almost exclusively when I was a kid so I’ve always loved them. My 1st car after passing my test was a 1.6L Mk4 saloon.

Re: New purchase
Scimitar?? My Dad is selling his Scimitar soon [/quickplug] Ebay & booze means we're not talking big money (I hope !), so not a Capri. Cortina ? Oh, and is the 3.0 V6 a misdirection, that engine was not originally fitted to the car ? Ste's Viva in his dreams  The boat’s cool but I really w...

Re: No F1 thread?
Although a nice read, that DR piece told us precisely nothing about why he’s going to Renault. I thought exactly the same! I haven’t read the article (and it sounds like it won’t help) but I don’t understand why a driver who has DNF’d 40% of his races this season due to the Renault parts of his car...

Wherever possible use open source software so you don’t need to bother managing your licences. HTH.

Re: No F1 thread?
Not followed F1 for a few years, but I was reading Alonso’s F1 stats earlier, do you chaps think he underachieved? Did he waste too many years in crap cars? I thought he was going to dominate after his championships with Renault, and then Lewis and Seb (or perhaps more accurately, Red Bull) came al...

Re: Ghosn arrested
It isn’t legally possible to have the options exercised through a 3rd party. And in every regulated market, the company must declare any buying or selling activity by the board. Even roping another exec into his scheme should be picked up by the various checks and balances, so even if Ghosn has been...

Re: Ghosn arrested
 I'm guessing he doesn't get paid in cash via PAYE. I expect his remuneration is a complex (normally tax driven) blend of cash and non-cash assets. The non-cash elements may be liquidated gradually with lock out periods. I guess he could have undereported his 'income' to the Japanese stock exc...

Re: Ghosn arrested
I must admit, I’m not sure how he is supposed to have misrepresented his salary. Even our little FTSE250 company has to have an independent remuneration committee. There’s checks and balances that are supposed to stop this sort of thing.

Re: Ghosn arrested
Funnily enough, I was in a meeting with our in-house lawyer today and she was talking about how if you ever need to get rid of an exec all you need to do is go through their expenses. (We’re not getting rid of an exec, it was in relation to us getting a threat of an audit).

Re: The Weather Thread.
1st frost of winter for us today. It was 16°c 2 weeks ago. We’ve had a couple of frosts already, a few weeks ago. Surprising when we’re thst much further south and are kept warm down in the Severn valley. People nearer Manchester have had a couple of light frosts. We’re in the Mersey valley so the ...
