Re: Motorway Mile Munchers
I have been requested to give him a "quick lift" to Middlesbrough Lol, I'm in Leeds and even I don't consider Middlesbrough to be a 'quick lift' sort of journey  I get that from time to time from my MIL - Sunday afternoon around 15:30 to 16:00. "Would I mind popping down to Plai...

Re: Motorway Mile Munchers
Just looked at the train, 2 return tickets from Folkestone will cost ...£424.40 Or £350.00 from St Pancras.
The logistics of this are challenging as I'll arrive at Heathrow airport at 8pm on Friday.

Re: Motorway Mile Munchers
He's put a deposit down on a diesel XJ in deepest darkest North England. Beige exterior, with beige interior and wooden steering wheel.
I have been requested to give him a "quick lift" to Middlesbrough sometime this weekend to check that the car isn't a lemon. FFS.

Re: “Black Edition”
My dad was moaning about this yesterday. The top spec Audi A8 is called the black edition, which results in the exterior being blacked out and interior mostly in all black. Different colour interior doesn't help as it only changes the seats and the red/cognac leather options don't work very well so ...

Re: Alfa Milano
Hilarious, just read that it's in trouble in Italy over false advertising and misleading consumers because it's called the Milano but made in Poland. They have a law directly targeting stuff like that. Also noticed in this larger pic that it's front grill appears to have fallen off. https://www.auto...

Re: Alfa Milano
It looks like a Renault to me.
The recent Alfa SUVs are neither popular with Joe public nor the Alfa fanboys. And I think the making a SUV because that’s what everyone wants boat has long sailed as that segment of the market is now saturated as seen by the Toenail sales.

Re: Dangerous beers...
I’ve had a very non-dangerous beer today because I was using a chainsaw and driving afterwards. https://i.ibb.co/LJ2ZmWx/IMG-0203.jpg I haven’t had a 0% beer in a years, this was alright and had an ice tea aftertaste. But I don’t think I’d call it beer - more of a soft drink. Meh, will just buy a co...

Leclerc and Sainz. The latter finally driving well now that he’s got the boot, should have done that from day 1.

Re: Your fleet running reports
Might as well add the Model 3 woes to this, its motor doesn’t seem long for this world as I suspect the rear motor has damaged one of its main internal bearings. It has another 25,000 miles of warranty left so hopefully it will grenade soon but as it is Tesla say that “drivetrain noises are part of ...

Re: Your fleet running reports
On the Teslas some people do preventative maintenance to replace the problematic oil/coolant seals in the motors but that is firmly into very hands/experienced DIY territory as I imagine the bill to remove 2 motors, do all the work and refit would be very high. The battery packs also have rubber sea...

Re: Your fleet running reports
Bullet dodged there. I do remember the Model S/X having that problem, which is why they go through so many motors. Not sure if they're really repairable though as when they go they suddenly go and ruin the electronics which seems to be a common theme with EVs.

It gets better if you read the small print. One off charge of £3k plus VAT. Also the nicer cars have a little pesky asterisk: "* 1.25 miles charged per mile, minimum 50 miles per day. ** 1.5 miles charged per mile, minimum 50 miles per day. *** 2 miles charged per mile, minimum 50 miles per day...

Re: Why are road trips so alluring?
There’s so much more exploration in a road trip. If you fly to Italy you will only experience that part of Italy, drive there and you explore every mile to Italy. Take detours along the way, pass through different cultures. It’s great.

Re: Teh Spotted Thread
Elec Mini has a hud and shares platform (or something) with the Ora funky cat, so not really surprising the Chinese style interior. What?! Is it made in China now? I thought it was similar to the funky cat… BMW aren’t exactly amateurs in the EV world, surprised that they’ve teamed up with Ora which...

No, it was meant to have one at the concept stage, then Elon said the car doesn’t need one as you won’t even need to drive it, it’ll be full self driving autonomously so there’s no point

Re: Motorway Mile Munchers
Yes LS is on the list but all hybrids command quite a premium so they come across as very overpriced for a car which will also depreciate to shed money eventually and have much more to go wrong. Go wrong? It's a Lexus, FiL put about 500k on a LS400 and 430 and the only failure over 20 years was the...
