Re: Le Mans 2020
More importantly did KiwiDave manage to stay awake all night to make the most of his Skygo Pass? I slept for about 2hrs. Finished at half midnight here, made getting up for an 8:30 Zoom call this morning interesting. I do think the race the past few years has been more on the farcical end of things...

Re: Le Mans 2020
I've been fortunate that a friend has lent me her Sky Go account so I can cast it from browser to main TV. However, someone told me you can purchase access in the WEC app and cast it from there which may be worth exploring. $15NZD for access to the race weekend, $20NZD for the whole season, so assum...

What is the UK test? The long probe thing up the nose or is it something in the throat?

Re: Coronavirus
I'm not 100% on what's actually going on in Melbourne/Victoria Dave? Lockdown keeps running and running there but seems like no real ground is being made? What's actually going on?

We fitted a shotgun to my mate's bike recently for his smallest - totally agree on comments, really well thought out bit of kit. Little lad loved it.

Re: The DSLR thread
Possible. as they are quite a rare battery type (2CR5). All bought from Amazon though :( That probably makes it worse no? Be some store somewhere flogging off cheap stock via Amazon? Or do you mean from Amazon directly? I've had those batteries last a roll of film and no more when they've been on s...

Re: The DSLR thread
@dinny_g @GG. on the EOS620, any issues with them eating batteries? The second one now has died within 24 hours of putting it in. When locked the LCD display continues to show the exposures taken. Is that normal? There doesn’t seem to be an actual off button. I'd be tempted to suggest batteries are...

Re: Mountain Biking general thread
Adding info, I've no idea what they cost in the UK but any of the Trek EMTBs aren't bad as an alternative. I've ridden full sus and HT of those and they're not bad tbh, motor is noisier and but more 'lungy' but they're decent bikes. Here in NZ it's the default option if you're not stumping for a Spe...

Re: Mountain Biking general thread
It's the Vado SL which I'm looking at, which has only just been launched - it's quite different to the normal city-style Vado, lighter and looks far more like a flat-bar road hybrid: https://www.specialized.com/gb/en/turbo-vado-sl - it's the one without racks and mudguards I'd be buying: https://cd...

Re: Mountain Biking general thread
If it helps Simon I went through identical thought processes with the Specialized range. In short, I bought Levo's - a HT for the Mrs and an FRS for me. I actually think for the components you get on them, the Vados are overpriced; relatively speaking same components on both bikes and the Vado costs...

Re: Coronavirus
But ultimately the relevant NZ authorities' fault for granting the compassionate leave from quarantine. Actually correct. I'm a huge fan of the current govt here, regardless of political leanings they've dealt with a massacre, a volcanic eruption and a global pandemic and only received universal pr...

Re: Coronavirus
Our clean slate stopped today. 24 days with 0 cases, now 2 from the UK allowed in to visit a family member who was dying. Contract tracing regime about to be tested to see if the country can still keep the virus out.

Re: Coronavirus
New Zealand just hit 0 cases. Everything except borders back to normal as of midnight tonight.
Here starts the watch and see whether that's a permanent status or if there's stuff lurking in the shadows...
Bit of a relief to be honest, though the job losses are already hitting hard.

Re: The DSLR thread
The usefulness of them is highly dependent on the camera they're attached to, not the lens. Essentially if the camera has one of the higher end AF systems like a 1DX, or dare I say it the 7D/7D2 and later 5D series they seem to cope quite well with focusing a long lens at f/5.6. The lower end camera...

Re: The DSLR thread
Agree with the comments on the usefulness of 35mm lenses. For £500, however, I would (and did) buy a very good condition 35mm 1.4 L Mk 1. No IS but in most situations you don't need it as at f1.4 it lets in twice the amount of light as an f2 lens (remember, the f-stops are logarithimic with regard ...

FAO Kiwi Dave... :) What do you think if this to share across a Canon EOS 620 FF film camera and an APS-C sensor’s 650S giving approx 56 mm equivalent Canon EF 35 mm f/2 IS USM Lens - Black https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00A33C4A8/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_r7w0EbWR6FJJ7 I haven't used one personally but I...

Re: 992 Targa
I feel like there's something about the back end of this that doesn't work as well as the 991 Targa.
But a Targa 4GTS mit PDK would be a most excellent daily I reckon. Money no object of course...
