Road users these days

<old man rant> Fuck’s sake. Drove from London to Beaulieu today; it took me over three hours, the roads were rammed and every other car was being driven by a cunt, shit, wanker or prick. Zero lane discipline, complete lack of any observation in any direction, failure to notice traffic lights, and my...

Re: The Watches Thread

To be honest, I’d go with the watch you like best. I know that seems like some left-handed, Beany-worthy advice that isn’t advice, but it’s so easy to get snarled up in whether the movement is in-house, or the brand keeps its value, or other more tangential things. Fundamentally, you need to know yo...

Re: The Watches Thread

Even for a fake, Mito, that is fucking awful. On the question of accuracy, Rich B is right (much though it pains me, on a philosophical level, to admit this...). Quartz for the win, and thermocompensated quartz for the ultimate win. I’ve timed a TC movement across a year, and found it gained fewer t...

Patrick, Alex, those are both beautiful. That JLC in particular is a wonderful thing, and I think the 1969 is my favourite Zenith of the bunch. No nonsense, pure class.

I don’t see that - my monitor must be better calibrated than yours.
Perhaps you're just better than me, full stop? 😎
It seems the obvious correct answer, doesn't it?

That looks lovely, Simon - I really like the graduated dial; I rather wanted the PADI special edition they did of one of their divers - it had a similar blue-to-black dial, but I didn't like the red accents. IMO it looks much better this way.

Excellent NATO too, obv. :)

Eric is now nearly 7 months old, bigger than his Auntie and still growing fast. I am beginning to worry that we accidentally bought a greyhound.

Re: Mesh WiFi

BT Whole Home Wifi works well for me - one disc plugged into the router and the others connect to that; three discs are enough to give complete coverage over four floors of brick-walled house and the garden to boot, and setup was a doddle. I think a three-pack was around £180 on some Amazon prime de...

Facebook can GTF, it's a force for evil in the world like all social media - run by the opportunistic and venal for eager consumption by the dim and needy.

But holy fuck - are shared social media accounts even a thing? Doesn't bode well for anyone in those relationships, does it?

'S a matter of taste, innit. Some people like NATOs, some don't. I'd never for a moment thought they were a matter for such deeply held views, but then knowing you lot as I do, I can't say I'm surprised. I reckon the only truly incorrect people on this thread are the ones who gave the topic 4 pages....

Ste is correct and the anti-NATO mob so wrong it hurts. A Speedmaster on a dark grey NATO looks miles better than a shiny leather strap or bracelet. Fact.

Unzippy is correct. And DJ, I think you’ll find that a lot of the UKIP headbangers view you as the “right sort” of immigrant (rhotacise at will). Their focus (ironically, since most of the originating countries are nowhere near the EU) is on immigrants from, ahem, different cultural backgrounds. Th...

This is odd. I agree with Mito Man. I don't like it. :(

I honestly don't mind kids on flights - they rarely bother you in Business anyway TBH.
