Re: No F1 thread?
I thought it looked alright in the c4 highlights. At least MV going out made it less obvious who would win, with the red and orange cars seeming pretty evenly matched. Shame Lando couldn’t make the last set of tyres work as well as in the middle stint, would have liked to see him right behind the Fe...

Re: Your fleet running reports
X5 passed the mot on Friday with no advisories. Thankfully the couple of evenings out in the dark paid off! Its mot history is pretty decent compared to several I checked online when looking for one. However, first event I’m supposed to be taking the compact to is only 4 weeks away so hoping for a r...
Re: EV Thread
Followed a bmw ix for a bit today, was surprised how skinny the tyres looked for a big old lump.

Re: The Weather Thread.
I’ve quite enjoyed being outside after work this week doing some MOT prep work. Nice to be plenty warm enough in normal clothes and it not being wet or windy.
Couple of hours more daylight and I’ll be pretty happy.
Feels like it’s been a long long time coming.

Re: Your fleet running reports
Handbrake will be done when I manage to get the handle off without damaging it
Would love some of the plain cloth, I swapped the seat cushions side to side to even out the wear and really don’t want to hole the bolsters.

Re: Your fleet running reports
Perfectly period late 90s accessory to match the year correct alpine head unit I already use. Alpine gives strong nostalgia for me. We had a multichanger head unit in our 928 at some point in the early to mid 90s playing the just released Meat Loaf Back into Hell. :D It was a very cool thing, thoug...

Re: Your fleet running reports
Then, amazingly, another rare unicorn item appeared! An Alpine G-320 digital sound processor / equaliser / spectrum analyser. The only ones which come up for sale are usually in the US or Mexico, not cheap to start with and adding import duty / vat makes them absurd. Perfectly period late 90s acces...

Re: Tesla Cyberpuke
I imagine there’s a lot of Elon saying how stuff has to be done and the actual engineers and people who know about manufacturing doing a lot of eye rolling. There are many many vids of them with doors completely mismatched to each other and the surrounding panels. Whether it’s a different batch of s...

Re: Full Fibre
Was on Vodafone (City Fibre) at the last house - 120Mb up and down (fibre is synchronous bandwidth) Openreach's FTTP offering is not the same up and down, even though it is apparently proper FTTP: https://www.ispreview.co.uk/talk/threads/why-not-symetrical.38719/#:~:text=Simply%20put%2C%20Openreach...

Re: Full Fibre
Had by fibre to the property for years, don’t think I’ve ever known it to slow down or drop out. Only went for it because adsl was dog turd, and would usually sit around 5mb. We ‘only’ get 150mb, but it’s always more than enough for anything we use so seems pointless paying for more for the couple o...

Re: Your fleet running reports
One of my favourite thing about cars is ones which are very much of their time. I think your compact is absolutely nailing it. Like Imolas on a 2wd Saphire Cosworth or a Peco BB4 on a Saxo, it just works. Dave! Cheers, it’s supposed to be just a bit of cheap fun, it’s a fine line between enough and...

Re: Domestic Plumbing Total Lack of Pressure
My grandads old house used to gradually lose pressure, upstairs presumably an air lock. By trial and error I found putting a thumb firmly over the outlet of the sink mixer tap and turning both hot and cold on full would cause it to shift and be fine for a long while. Pretty sure it was the cold that...

Re: Your fleet running reports
Couple of minor compact updates. Before Christmas I managed to find a very rare compact armrest / centre console setup. I’d been looking for a couple of years, even considered buying a car with one in just to take it out and sell the car on 😂 The leather cover was trashed, so I pulled it to bits and...

Re: Your fleet running reports
I've always jump started directly battery-to-battery, because that's the equivalent to having a charged battery ? I’ve always done this too. The argument I have seen a few times is this pretty much what is stated below During jump-starting, we connect the boosting battery to ground rather than to t...

Re: Your fleet running reports
Same. Everything I’ve read forever tells you not to go battery to battery, but I always have where possible because it’s usually nice and clean and a grippy shape. And I can’t see what difference it would make to anything having it earthed to another lump of metal connected directly to the battery. ...
