Re: Wales 20mph limit

In software/product management, we often find ourselves talking about outputs vs outcomes This data from Wales reminded me of this The average speed dropping is an output But the impact of that would be an outcome Has the number of accidents/injuries changed? Usually speaking, it's harder to ask &qu...

Re: Fricking Lasers!

Sounds like the Uzi of torches

Yes, the Uzi had a ridiculous rate of fire, which just means you run out of bullets quicker

Sounds like this torch is so bright, you can't really use it (at full brightness)

Re: Elderly parent 'assistance' button help please

Simon I'm really sorry to hear what happened, and know how upsetting it can be I've had a couple of relatives in this position (upwards of a two hour drive away) and have tried these buttons IME they were pointless because "Oh I'm fine dear!" and/or they just get forgotten about, run out ...

Re: The Watches Thread

Saw these recommended by AM on watch finder - https://underd0g.com/products/01mcbr Love a good micro brand and underd0g seem to offer something genuinely different (in a good way). IMO they're overpriced (at c£500) They use the Chinese-made ST-1901 movement that can be had in watches like this on A...

Re: Trump

De Santis has quit!.. definitely feels like a “who do you dislike more” vote coming up. Probably the same in the UK tbh 🤷‍♂️ https://news.sky.com/story/ron-desantis-suspends-presidential-campaign-13053662 Of course they "prayed and deliberated"... Fucking religion eh? They should all be b...

Re: The Watches Thread

Oh yeah, these aren't original designs @GG.

I've always preferred the BB58 (the red triangle behind the pip at 12, and the faux-tina) to the BB54 (black & white/silver look, no red triangle)

And I really don't like Tudor's fussy (to me) 5 link bracelet

And the SM is £140

Re: Heating Tea

I microwave my coffee every day... I batch brew in a 10 cup moka then keep it in a sealed bottle in the fridge When I want a coffee, I'll put some in a glass mug, microwave that while foaming/warming some (oat) milk and it always hits the spot IMO it's a good compromise between convenience and makin...

Still the best sounding engine ever IMO

From that guttural low down rumble, to the top end shriek, nothing has the range IMO

Re: Trump

His "dictator for day" comment just made think of the "I'd wish for infinite wishes" thing

As if a person like that would hand back unrestricted power after wielding it for just one day?

Unlikely

Re: Toyota GR Yaris

I quite like the new dash, it puts me in mind of cheaply-made 80s hot hatches, and also the "sheet of metal with dials in" aesthetic of Group B rally cars The CarWow video is really interesting, they've clearly listened to feedback and made some thoughtful improvements Still mystifies me w...

This thread reminded me of something I saw a couple of years ago: https://www.silenceuk.com/s01-connected It's an electric scooter that considered the kind of person who would likely own one, how they'd use it etc E.g. the battery slides out, has wheels and a handle so you can take it indoors and ch...

Re: The Watches Thread

Jobbo yeah I saw Jody's video - totally know what he means when you put a watch on and immediately know if it's for you or not I'm always amazed why some watches are so thick - it has to be a design decision (on the basis that I've got cheap (c£100 AliExpress jobs that are c11-12mm thick with a Sei...
