Far from it, something engaging and fun is far more important than being ever so slightly quicker with zero skill needed.

It’s been shit since they tried being overly clever and made stuff far more complicated than they ever had to.

Re: Baltimore Bridge Collision

I’ve been on anchor handlers which go from blackout to back up and running within a minute or so to crews who simply didn’t know how to do it and dropped anchor instead of hitting the fjord.

Good Chief Engineers are worth their weight in gold.

It will be interesting to hear how long it was a black ship for, so no power at all.

Thrusters and things can still be available if a crew knows what it’s doing and the main engine is gone.

Re: Your fleet running reports

So I’ve been hunting for a front end rattle for ages since doing the front subframe bushes on the ML. As I couldn’t find a thing wrong I just replaced the arb drop links and what do you know, the rattle is gone. The old ones are still showing zero play and are nearly as stiff as the new ones. Ho hum...

Saw Dune 2 at the cinema on Saturday. Some odd parts which just don’t make sense but very watchable at the cinema. Spoilers below…… They made a big deal about him going alone, they must go to the south etc. then 1 sip of poison and with zero explanation, they all turned up to meet him ? So they can ...

If someone asked you how much money would it take to be critiqued by the world, where half of them don’t like the very idea of you anyway, then that number doesn’t exist so it’s certainly not a charmed life at all.

Hey, how many miles between rebuilds on either the Nissan or Lucid lumps? I couldn’t care less, I’m over 640,000 total miles on the 4 of mine and only 1 failed cambelt tensioner pulley causing actual damage. What’s the failure point of an electric motor? It will be years till cost effective motor r...

My colleague cashed out his RR shares at 420p the other day. He bought a month or so before me and made 46k. Then his etherium and made 18k, he bought in the start of 2021. Total made, 64k, not a bad run for about 14k invested in total. He did say he had the fear when he sold it all and I can see th...

100 litres of petrol, fuel tank, pumps and lines etc would be around 125kg, that’s pretty good going and the weight drops as it’s used.

Lots left on IC engines yet.

Re: Cayman/Boxter RIP.

Those sales figures are genuinely surprising re 911 to Boxster/Cayman ratio. I'd love to be a fly on the wall at these car companies who over the last 5-10 years or so are having to do so much more in the way of software development, UI design and all the security considerations that come with it. ...

Ears always look worse as they seem to bleed really bad.

Hopefully they don’t react badly to normal dog play!

Some of the requirements that the EU are imposing sound absolutely insane to me for this UNECE WP.29. From https://www.carmagazine.co.uk/car-news/motoring-issues/cybersecurity/ "Of course, most cars have multiple users over the course of their life and WP.29 seeks to ensure that there is no po...

Re: EV Thread

Saloons and estates, I’ve a mental barrier of 2 tons.

SUVs shouldn’t be over 2.3 tons.

Hatches under 1.5 tons.

Super minis 1.2 tons.

When cars are above those figures I just think badly designed lard boxes.
