Step daughter has a polo of that shape for 5 years. I think it’s needed rear dampers, a battery and some brakes, can’t remember doing anything else to it. Parts have been dirt cheap.
1.4 though so no direct experience of the 1.2, but feels smooth, comfortable and pretty solid.

Re: The ebay thread
I always think these car based trailers must tow terribly because of the rear wheel position unless you use something with a big rear overhang.
I guess most are just for occasional car show things anyway.

Re: Your fleet running reports
An afternoon of changing pads today. Rears on the X5 https://i.ibb.co/mcYTDjR/IMG-0105.jpg All very pleasant, nothing seized, didn’t cut my wrists open, it even stayed sunny and I worked in an old tatty £5 t-shirt ;) What year X5 is it? The whole layout looks virtually identical to my first gen X5....

The amount of conspiracy bulls hit in seeing everywhere about everything is getting a bit worrying.
Had to unfollow a couple of people I’ve been following for years because they started posting contrail nonsense amongst their normal posts.

Re: Paintless Dent Removal.
There was a chap which used to regularly pop up on my YouTube who would show the whole process on tackling a dent, from how he got access to what bars and tips he used. Was really interesting, but not seen any for a while. I guess I didn’t watch a couple of suggested vids and he dropped off my algor...

Re: Paintless Dent Removal.
I’d like to learn it. Have had a few goes and managed to make various dents look less bad, but wouldn’t say have ever actually completely removed any. I think the most important thing would be to buy an illuminated line board so you can see exactly where the dent is and how the metal moves as you pr...

Tamiya lunchbox update. Asked for one for Christmas because my mum never knows what to get me. Have wanted one for years as a mate had one when I was a child and it looked hilarious. Christmas Day afternoon was spent building https://i.imgur.com/EcwH9XX.jpeg Had to go original box art https://i.imgu...

Re: No F1 thread?
I thought it looked alright in the c4 highlights. At least MV going out made it less obvious who would win, with the red and orange cars seeming pretty evenly matched. Shame Lando couldn’t make the last set of tyres work as well as in the middle stint, would have liked to see him right behind the Fe...

Re: Your fleet running reports
X5 passed the mot on Friday with no advisories. Thankfully the couple of evenings out in the dark paid off! Its mot history is pretty decent compared to several I checked online when looking for one. However, first event I’m supposed to be taking the compact to is only 4 weeks away so hoping for a r...

Followed a bmw ix for a bit today, was surprised how skinny the tyres looked for a big old lump.

Re: The Weather Thread.
I’ve quite enjoyed being outside after work this week doing some MOT prep work. Nice to be plenty warm enough in normal clothes and it not being wet or windy.
Couple of hours more daylight and I’ll be pretty happy.
Feels like it’s been a long long time coming.

Handbrake will be done when I manage to get the handle off without damaging it
Would love some of the plain cloth, I swapped the seat cushions side to side to even out the wear and really don’t want to hole the bolsters.

Perfectly period late 90s accessory to match the year correct alpine head unit I already use. Alpine gives strong nostalgia for me. We had a multichanger head unit in our 928 at some point in the early to mid 90s playing the just released Meat Loaf Back into Hell. :D It was a very cool thing, thoug...

Re: Your fleet running reports
Then, amazingly, another rare unicorn item appeared! An Alpine G-320 digital sound processor / equaliser / spectrum analyser. The only ones which come up for sale are usually in the US or Mexico, not cheap to start with and adding import duty / vat makes them absurd. Perfectly period late 90s acces...

I imagine there’s a lot of Elon saying how stuff has to be done and the actual engineers and people who know about manufacturing doing a lot of eye rolling. There are many many vids of them with doors completely mismatched to each other and the surrounding panels. Whether it’s a different batch of s...

Was on Vodafone (City Fibre) at the last house - 120Mb up and down (fibre is synchronous bandwidth) Openreach's FTTP offering is not the same up and down, even though it is apparently proper FTTP: https://www.ispreview.co.uk/talk/threads/why-not-symetrical.38719/#:~:text=Simply%20put%2C%20Openreach...
