Re: Your fleet running reports
Yeti is back from repairs after its brush with a wooden post, looking fixed and, as a bonus, shiny. Good service from Solus in Basingstoke. The Corsa courtesy car had too-light steering and typically Vauxhall unsupportive seats (imo) but I enjoyed trying out a heated steering wheel and my daughter e...

Re: Your fleet running reports
Harnesses - I'd recommend upgrading to 5 / 6 point if possible, the crotch strap(s) help keep the waist strap down on your pelvis rather than riding up onto your stomach. Yes, I should get round to this in the Fabia. As well as the anti-submarining aspect, should make them a whole lot more comfy. R...

if you are pre-disposed to high cholesterol then no amount of dieting is going to stop that happening in time and your arteries will fur up - random selection of articles to that end. https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/32633265/ https://www.bhf.org.uk/informationsupport/heart-matters-magazine/medical/...

Re: Your fleet running reports
Down to a much more mundane update...
Fabia. MOT. Yay! (though the offside front lower shock bolt was loose. Like, nearly falling off loose, so they handily tightened that up).
Might get the clutch done now that's out of the way. And drive it again. 464 miles since the last MOT.

Re: Awkward tyre sizes...
Not in the same price bracket but the Swift Sport tyres are an odd size, 195/45/17. Seems like a few people go for 205/40 or 205/45 instead, either cheaper or just for more choice.

I keep my peculiar obsessions hidden unless specifically asked mainly because my old sheds aren’t likely to impress anyone and I’d look like a right weirdo if anyone found out just how much time and energy I devote to cars and car related activities 😄 likewise. I feel a bit funny telling everyone e...

Re: Brain haemorrhages
Bloody hell. Glad you're back home, still with us and on the road to recovery. I had major heart surgery 11 years ago to get a mechanical aortic valve, replacement artificial aortic root and rebuilt mitral valve (bovine xenograft) and the meds to manage this are thought to have caused the haemorrhag...

Anyone thinking of one of these? Next Swatch collaboration after the Omega one. I didn't realise the Sistem51 movement was a weak point and not fixable, according to the comments.

Re: MX5 test drive
Hmm, MX-5, GR-86 or A110?
Neither of the latter will depreciate (if you can get a GR).
Only the Alpine is quicker than the MX-5.
But neither of the latter give you the open top.
I think it comes down to whether you want the roof down part of it.
That white 100th Anniversary edition does look good.

Re: Daan Saaf OV9 Meet
Great write up Mr Jobson. Great to see everyone again and Will, to meet you for the first time. I was pleased to see you rejoin our convoy after the twisty section - I was fairly confident you weren't going to catch up whilst Jobbo and I were closing the gap to the others, but good to see you soon a...

 Transpires she hit a post (under the round light, which has also cracked the grey trim a little). Then reversed, then scraped the rest of it (and probably pulled off the headlight washer cover) doing most of the damage when moving away again  In a car park, that she only went into to do ...

Re: Your fleet running reports
Swift: picked up a squeak in the right front wheel early on yesterday at the meet. It is intermittent and stops when I press the brake so I suspect something stuck in there somewhere. Yeti: The wife managed to ‘scrape’ a wooden post. My first thought was to buff it and see what damage remains but th...

Swift. MOT. Flying colours. Keeping up my average of about 2200 miles/year. Continues to be fun at low speed, with a decent amount of kit for a relatively cheap thing (DAB, bluetooth, cruise, AC, sat nav, remote locking, rear parking sensors).

Whereas I just paid a firm to fit one onto the Yeti
Went for a permanent one, I think it was cheaper than detachable and I don't mind it poking out the back all the time. (oo-er!)

FFS :x Botley, FWIW, just east of Southampton. Showed a mate I used to work with, who's in that area. He parks in that car park all the time and has friends who live near it. Says it's overlooked from the main road and local housing. Upset to see it happened at all, and during the day as well.

Re: Anyone play drums in here?
I wish I could play the drums. I have an electronic drum kit (table top style that I have angled on a stand). Mainly got it to trigger samples through MIDI on a sampler app, as well as living out my rock drummer dreams in a very slow and out of time manner. Hand on heart, I think those table top st...
