Re: It's the weekend

I shall from now on inform the customer that I am simply a Dave. For what it’s worth, you can’t work in most countries unless you have a job title of engineer but a lot of countries see schooling or university as the only sources of education. Also g as they pay me a fair wage I’m happy  Dave!

If you are doing an engineering job as defined by the dictionary, then you can call yourself an engineer in the general work environment imo.

Re: It's the weekend

Thoughts on not being able to call yourself an engineer until you have an actual, recognised qualification in engineering? The definition is.... a person who designs, builds, or maintains engines, machines, or structures. You also have the shipyard definition which is 1st, 2nd and chief engineer. A...

Re: It's the weekend

I’ve never met an engineer under the age of 40 who I trust with measurements. I’m currently trying to move 2016tons worth of engine and alternator into position with a tolerance of 0.1mm and he has his measurements backwards so instead of the foundations being 13mm too high, they are intact 35mm too...

Re: It's the weekend

I’m finding motivation for any essential vehicle work very hard to find lately. Which is why I drove 160 miles for a brake job on my Landy by taking it to Mr Flew. I’ll happily do work on the wife’s TT but am having a low point in my spannering of late. I’d rather sit in the warm and tinker with toy...

Re: Ring Lap Times

Does anyone have a time or the Carrera GT on its original tyres and the modern ones? It was said at the time that it made a huge difference to how the car handled and gripped so I wonder if some of the bigger leaps are more down to tyres than a refining of suspension and brakes etc.

Re: Hybrid batteries

It’s not good for the engine, but, it would have been designed into it so probably makes no difference. It probably does more harm to the exhaust system than anything else and modern exhausts seem particularly good compared to 20 years ago.

It’s ok, I drive noisy cars, let him climb up the garage un-supervised and he tries my beer, so I think it evens out

Re: Primary school shenanigans

I have a friend in south London who had to pretend to be Greek Orthordox for three years so her son could go to the only school in the catchment area without regular stabbings/shootings. In the UK we have c.10% church attendance, and 53% self-identify as "having no religion", so why do we...

Primary school shenanigans

Well I finally think I am becoming an adult 8-) Our eldest luckily got our first choice primary school which we are very pleased with. The area we moved into has 3 well regarded primary schools which is partly the reason we bought the house but getting first pick was nice. It has though opened up my...

If I put my cats in the sink they would rip my face off. I had to wash Lilly a few times after we let her hair get too long and the look of sorrow was too much to bare. George had oil on his back so we tried the same, he literally turned into a Tasmanian Devil and bolted. Those water fountains are r...

I played Trombone in a jazz band and got quite good.

My fingers refuse to do what I tell them though with guitar so my idea of being the next Buckethead was stopped in it’s tracks.

I think apart from Collies any working type dog is awesome. That’s a lovely colour too. My wifes Uncle has a massive Staffie called Biggles who is lov...

On the way back from the Monaco Supercar Grand Prix we sat with a britished registered Invicta at 260kmh for quite some time. We had to do a nigh on emergency stop for a toll booth. Good times.

Oh, and gotta put a few pounds back on the dogs, they’ve both shed a ridiculous amount this week despite me giving them nearly double their normal calorie intake. Even the Cocker is tired today! (I’ve failed to lose the same weight due every walk ending up at a pub) Canagans biscuit food is great f...

Looks awesome!

I’ve neglected Flash of late due to so much going on at home. I intend to change that next trip home and get a few man and his dog days in.
