Re: Your fleet running reports

Depends which side of Bury, Google says I'll be coming home down the A11, but regardless I may just take you up on that offer (even if it's just to use the loo!). I was banking on this one being the later spec with rear discs etc when I put in my bid. Fingers crossed I've not made a big boo-boo ther...

Re: Your fleet running reports

"Shall I take the 911, the Vantage, the 530d, the T4, the Passat estate or the 316? I think it's the 316's turn today" Amended ;) I've been enjoying Autosolos recently in the Porsche, but it's not really the right car for that kind of thing. Small & light is the key. I got 2nd place l...

Re: Your fleet running reports

Ha ! But back in realistic world a 318ti is simple and a 328 is reasonably easy.

It will need an MOT as a first step, then I'll drive it a bit, maybe use it on the next Autosolo on the 24th. Then think about it :)

316i sadly. Although it's actually 1895cc. AFAIK 316i & 318i were essentially the same, then the 318ti was a twin-cam.

I've been keeping an eye out for a silver 318ti Sport with no sunroof and there's not many around. Easy engine swap. Or a six-pot conversion....

Where are you ? I was thinking of you and had an inkling you were over that side of the country.

I've got a lead on borrowing a trailer, a stop off off for a cuppa might be in order.

Re: Your fleet running reports

At least tell us it is silver. I think you know me well enough by now :D 7.jpg It's £700, which considering I need to find a trailer and spend a whole day going to collect it is probably too much, but it's silver and it's a Sport and it doesn't have a sunroof, and that combo is surprisingly rare.

Re: Your fleet running reports

Addition to the fleet incoming, but I CBA with the usual guessing game so: it's an E36 Compact.

Won accidentally on ebay this evening when the high bid got cancelled and left me holding the baby. Ooops.

Anyone live near Norwich ??

I’ll bring a smattering of tools. Don’t think my trolley jack will fit in though.

Getting nervous now !

Going to give my brakes a once-over this weekend, apart from that I think the car's ready.

t'other way round. He left LEDA and went to Gaz. LEDA had been around for donkey's years, they're not a new company at all.

I've got a feeling the Cup cars have a different setup - maybe the hubs - and they're not interchangeable.

Re: GAZ Shocks (ND)

It's not an upgrade just for the sake of it, one of my rear dampers is leaking and it makes sense to replace as a set, and even the OEM-equivalent Bilsteins are over £1k for a set of four dampers. PSS9/10 are £2500 and the Ohlins DFV (which are made in the far-east, not Sweden) are about the same. I...

GAZ Shocks (ND)

Anyone here using GAZ shocks ? I'm looking at options for the Porsche, I'd like a step up from OEM but not a £3k++ step up to Ohlins ! And I'm a little dubious of the cheap ebay coilovers. Plus I like the idea of supporting British manufacturing (part of the reason I went for a Safety Devices cage l...

Re: Your fleet running reports

Does seem suspicious that mine has started doing it more frequently after 9E changed the oil. I'll be delighted if it can be cured with simply using higher viscosity stuff. Give them a call and ask what they put in there ? You don't need to make a fuss, just say you want to pick up a small bottle o...

Or use Archer's solution - get the car driven around everywhere on a truck, overall it works out cheaper than fixing it every time it breaks

Re: SecretSupercarOwner (not dead)

I've been lusting after a 12C recently too. From a quick read of Pistonheads, the extended McLaren warranty is absolutely essential, at £3500 pa it's "relatively" cheap. £1500 for a service so you're looking at minimum £5k pa running the car before other consumables and the luxuries like i...

Different course, but here's one of the regulars from my club. He drives a tiny little Healey Sprite and is bloomin' quick:

Re: Your fleet running reports

I've not filmed any of my runs, and I don't think there's any in-car from the Mini either. Best I can find right now is an MX5 from last year's event, pretty much the same course as yesterday.

It's fun and relatively inexpensive.
