Re: The Watches Thread

saw something the other day about a Rolex Explorer 2 that was only available to SAS soldiers very cool, but you couldn't really wear one IMO, unless you were an SAS soldier yourself - or had a legitimate connection to one (father/brother etc) or you'd be like those idiots who claim to be SEALs and g...

Re: Twitter

Well it looks like you can now add $8 a month to your existing susceptible services if you want anyone to actually find your content From what I've seen and what Musk was saying, this has zero to do with verifying people and everything to do with just charging to use Twitter I suspect he sees this a...

Re: Twitter

A verified account already cost $5/month So this is a price increase on an already paid for service Business 101 = it's easier to get more money from existing customers than generate a new revenue stream from new customers I don't see what the fuss is about (re: verified accounts) Everything else is...

Re: The Movie Thread

All quiet on the western front

This is on Netflix at the moment and is the story of some German lads who volunteer to fight in the first world war

6/10

There wasn't much of a story as such, more a series of "vignettes", and there have been better WW1 films IMO

it was OK though

Re: The plural of Walkman is

In the same way, they shouldn't be made possessive...

i.e. not "my Walkman's headphones"

should be "the headphones for my Walkman" (or something like that)

Re: The plural of Walkman is

I think technically, because they're not nouns, they should not be pluralised

It should be "I owned ten Walkman cassette players"

Not "I owned ten Walkmans/Walkmen etc"

Re: Genius. Lunacy. Astonishing.

reminded me of that time Senna (I think it may have been) took pole by crashing through/out of the last turn

the finish line was on the corner exit, there was no way he was going to make the turn/next straight, but he didn't need to

think they moved the finish line away from the corner after that

How does one mock the week when the weeks are as fucked up as the ones we're having now?

I watched the Buzz Lightyear film on a plane back from the US last night.

A friend has an i30N and it's a very impressive car The front end grip it finds when driving "enthusiastically" is mighty impressive And yes, they make lots of naughty noises Makes you wonder how they're able to achieve that with emissions regs where my M140i sounds incredibly muted by com...

I'm quite tempted too (for a 7 - the Pro is just too big IMO)

But that camera "slab" thing is still a real issue for me

We had an engine explode on us during take-off once - huge flames and "bits" flying out the back of the engine We happened to be sat next to it at the time We were pretty much committed to take-off speed when it happened, but we aborted Brakes went on like you'd not believe possible, sever...

101 is one of my favourite live albums ever (and I don't like live albums) The other two that I keep coming back to are Iron Maiden's "Live after death" and Jean-Michel Jarre's "Rendezvous Houston" Not sure I'll be trying to get tickets for this tour though - it won't be the same...

That Smiths is a bit of a "mutt" (albeit a nice looking mutt) Vintage diver + Explorer numerals + Tudor-esque "riveted"/5 link bracelet Reminds me a bit of the San Martin I got a while back, although for overall cohesiveness, I do prefer the San Martin https://i.ebayimg.com/image...
