Re: Your fleet running reports

Lower temp thermostat will just make the car overfuel most of the time. If you're sure its the stat then just go OEM. I was going to say similar. If it's into overheating the thermostat is (or should be) fully open, a lower temperature rating won't make any difference to that. Also, thermostats are...

Re: FAO Duncs

Oh and five revels says it's not HGF. I've never had a K-series and didn't know they have a reputation for being hard to bleed, so in light of that and the fact the last people to work on it were a bit crap, and this only started after they'd worked on it, I'm voting for not-properly-bled as well. ...

Re: Beany's Seriously Impressive Pish and Drivel / Cars he wont buy thread..

E36 compact is e36 front end and ( very lightly modified ) e30 rear end to save space, weight and cost ) and far from being a reason to avoid it is actually the reason a lot of people like them... Precisely why I bought one, to try and be competitive against the MX5s in Autosolos. The E46 is bigger...

Re: Your fleet running reports

Fitted replacement window regulator to the Compact, which turned out to be a refreshingly straightforward job. I didn't replace the vapour barrier, instead I removed the remains of the original one, and as much of the glue as I could be bothered with. Weight saving. Race car. Did some more work on t...

If you're heading in an E46 direction, try a 325ti (that's the Compact).

Yes, definitely. I was forgetting the hoses had been changed recently. That might well be the answer.

I’ll be honest - I don’t like the sound of that. Any sign of oil in water or vice-versa ? I think you’ll need to get it booked in for some investigation.

Get the 330i. BMW straight sixes are great. You need to try one.

Re: Your fleet running reports

Rear wiper delete finished ! Pack of ten 25mm plastic plugs from eBay for £2.25 and a quick spray of some random silver wheel paint I had in the garage. It’ll need some silicone in there as well to waterproof it but for a cost of probably less than 50p it’s not bad :) 04A4F29E-D244-45F3-808F-6BAD172...

Re: DSG gearboxes

We've had two, both in Passats, a B6 and now a B7. The B6 used to judder slightly when cold, new oil didn't make a difference, but OTOH it didn't get any worse in the five years or so we had it. We've had the B7 just over a year, it's been absolutely fine and has just had an oil change as a routine ...

The core is completely detached from the outer. There's no way it should pass an MOT like that so I'm in ...

There is, but still.

Having a transaxle must help massively with the cabin though, less transmission tunnel needed at the front.
