Re: The House Projects Thread

We had our new boiler fitted on Tuesday. BG man did a reasonable job of it all, considering that the old boiler was the original from when the house was built 30 years ago. A nice new Vaillant sits in its place. Have Hive too, as figured we'd only go 'full Smart' when evohome is updated and we're in...

Re: Coronavirus

Yeah that's kinda how I see it. School testing likely caught a lot of asymptomatic cases, and now the reported numbers will start to drop again (as the _actual_ number of cases was dropping anyway, it's just that we've caught more in the school testing). Unless of course schools themselves cause mor...

Re: Coronavirus

They've gone full retard, and you never go full retard. The utter incompetence of them over AZ from start to finish has been an utter sham, meanwhile thousands of Europeans die. They order 3 months late, blame AZ for production ramp issues because they ordered late, advised against it's use in order...

Re: Coronavirus

You should book it for the start of the week, then you'll be safe in the knowledge that you can have a couple of sick days off work without your weekend being bummed. ;)

Re: The House Projects Thread

Ok thanks. Are you going with a 'proper' tiled roof or one of those new hybrid plastic tiled roofs?

Re: The House Projects Thread

Any chance of a look at your plans for the conservatory replacement @McSwede? Would like to see the before/afterness of it all.

Re: New new new new Top Gear

Ah yes, before my dad had his Maestro he had a Cortina Estate. That was the car I was brought home from hospital in. He had a Hillman Imp before that apparently.

Re: Gordon Murray T50 Live Launch

I think I'd still take an F1 personally. Don't know why Murray insisted on that fan, for all his 'driving purity' ethos.

Re: New new new new Top Gear

Dad had company cars until they were taxed punitively for those not doing big business miles (like him), and he took the cash instead. Before that: A plate Austin Maestro 1.3 C plate Vauxhall Cavalier GLS 1.6 (written off by an idiot in a Ford Orion) C plate Vauxhall Cavalier GL 1.6 (temporary car a...

New new new new Top Gear

That was a little bit special that was. Proper nostalgia soaked retro wagons and you could see the glee in all of them at the unveiling of their respective 'dad cars'.

I see Harris actually owns that 323i now. Magic.

Re: Absurdly cheap car insurance?

Some insurers accept a NCB longer than 'licence held', whilst others don't. I go through that nonsense when I renew my wife's insurance. She has 2 years NCB, but has only held her licence for a little over a year. Admiral are fine with that fact. Direct Line are not.

I really like the NSX. I'd have one if I were in the market for a hybrid Japanese supercar from a manufacturer of otherwise regular hatchbacks.
