Re: Test drive report

I loved the original Boxster Spyder but I’d not have one - the roof is stupid and one of the joys of a Boxster is the easy, quick convertible top.

Plus they’re bloody expensive so buying a 911 instead is a no-brainer; I’ve had that discussion previously with Rich about buying a not-a-911.

After watching Harry’s videos there’s no way I’d want anything but the Tour chassis. So yes, agreed.

The Ami is a curio which is basically a toy but the Dacia is a proper car. Being cheap just resets where people think cars should be priced.

Re: Test drive report

I can see me getting a 911 in a year or two and it being my go-to every day car. I don’t want a GT version; I’d always rather have something more focused like an Elise or Caterham. The Emira has to be worth trying. If it still doesn’t make me buy it on the spot then I’ll try another MX5 and if I don...

Re: Test drive report

I didn’t mean new to you, I meant as in such a new car in age. Because used cars have been stupidly overpriced since COVID. And because whatever I get I expect to keep for a very long time, since there may not be many more new ICE cars introduced; it'll be the last of the line so now seems a good t...

Re: Test drive report

What’s the need for a new car ? Tax reasons or just wanting a shiny new thing, I get all of them so I’m not being a dick. What about a Cantage a few years old, bit of an event, more fun at lower speeds maybe and gorgeous looking. Dave! I drive a diesel estate Dave. It's a nice diesel estate but I m...

Re: Test drive report

I still havent driven a a110, probably should avoid doing so. I think that I would want the R but it feels way to expensive for what it is. I think that Id prefer an Alfa 4C, used prices for 2018/19 cars are pretty similar. The Mazda is a lot of car for the money and seems like there are a lot of c...

Re: Test drive report

Sorry it was TL:DR but I deliberately left it that way - it reflects my thoughts on the A110. I really wanted to love it, and I do love the way it looks. Not sure the fuel pump issues have yet been fully sorted and the number of people finding aluminium corrosion under the paint on 2-3 year old cars...

Re: Test drive report

Yesterday's test drive was an Alpine A110. I tried to make my life easier by arranging it for the end of the day but stupidly forgot that test driving a car in a Birmingham suburb in rush hour was going to be a bit frustrating. Fortunately I had long enough (after the initial 15 mins queuing to get ...

Re: Jerry can recommendations

Only one handle though :( I haven't even got round to filling up my 10l plastic can yet, so I'll see how annoying that is before I buy a metal jerry can as well. Not sure how awkward the local petrol stations are about filling up multiple containers; I will see. I think Jimmy gave me back the Jimny ...

It also logs cumulative time played and I was quite embarrassed to see I'd already clocked up 17 hours :? I was quite proud of my cumulative time spent playing GTA Online but now I'm not sure if I should be ashamed. Fortunately Rockstar keep 'improving' the web login criteria so I can't easily acce...

Yes, I made the mistake of thinking the start price was the guide price - I didn't think they'd go for those prices. Worth watching anyway.

Re: For the FTAO of JL

I've had a look through the auction and I think I'd far rather have this than pretty much any of the 4-character plates: https://dvlaauction.co.uk/auction/B265/44POP

I'm sure it won't be cheap but it's got a repeated digit and the letters are an actual word, so it's pleasing.

Re: For the FTAO of JL

There are always some interesting registrations in the DVLA's auctions. Probably as good a place as any to pick up a cheap 4-character plate. But looking through, the cheaper 4-character plates aren't as appealing as the less random 5 and 6 character ones. Not sure why this has such a low estimate t...

Retro-gaming is going to become a snapshot of a time period (1980s-2010s?) rather than a growing thing I guess.

Re: Clocks changing

My Merc is automatic - not sure how. Possibly it's 'online' all the time, as it does have that assistance dialer built in and the remote app that I can use to query the car. Yeti is a couple of buttons. I think most cars from the last decade or more change automatically based on the time signal tra...
