Re: Test drive report
It was a 2006 997.1 Carrera S in silver with about 52k miles which sold on Collecting Cars for £23,500. Having done a bit of googling and looking at adverts there seems to be a very wide price range between an early 997.1 and late 997.2; I’m sure that is partly down to bore scoring being perceived a...

Re: Test drive report
I'm arranging an Emira test drive. Have had quite a bit of discussion with the Alpine dealer; they have found one in Alpine Blue with comfort seats which is far more to my taste and I would definitely say it has grown on me since the test drive; there was a lot I liked and it is quite a special thin...

Ah, I've seen that elsewhere and clearly didn't read the thread fully. It's been mentioned many times I'm sure; it certainly isn't my tip.

Re: State of the Roads
When you have reported it, tell us how quickly they actually fix it. Chances are they will inspect straight away, decide it's not worth fixing because it'll be winter in just a few months and it's scheduled for surface dressing in 2028 and then, if you're lucky, spray some paint around it. The spray...

1997, barely 10k km, titanium/red, completely original, Alpine front loader 3 CD radio, from Germany. Always wanted one since fiest seeing it at the 1996 IAA in Frankfurt. That's after the MMC disks were replaced by steels I suspect - is that the case or is yours a late MMC model? I have no idea ho...

Re: It’s time for another forum cycle/vehicle disagreement
It's very similar indeed to Amsterdam, where you often also have a tram line down the middle. It just takes a moment's thought to realise cars and trucks are not special and have no priority over others. Maybe a larger number of cyclists means drivers don't get complacent.

Re: Your fleet running reports
I was just joking guys. I didn't realise we had actual experts on the forum. Richard Herring has done some actual research and it’s not as uncommon as you might think to be flexible enough. Not sure he’s on the forum though. [Edit] I realise I should add for clarity - he found a percentage of men c...

Re: Mouse hunting
Poison, sadly - assuming it’s just mice not rats it shouldn’t smell too badly, maybe not even noticeable. Or get a cat of course. I’ve found mouse droppings and chewed insulation under the bath in our new house after I took the panel off; not surprising in an old place and not accessible to the cats...

Re: Test drive report
I loved the original Boxster Spyder but I’d not have one - the roof is stupid and one of the joys of a Boxster is the easy, quick convertible top.
Plus they’re bloody expensive so buying a 911 instead is a no-brainer; I’ve had that discussion previously with Rich about buying a not-a-911.

After watching Harry’s videos there’s no way I’d want anything but the Tour chassis. So yes, agreed.

Re: Test drive report
I can see me getting a 911 in a year or two and it being my go-to every day car. I don’t want a GT version; I’d always rather have something more focused like an Elise or Caterham. The Emira has to be worth trying. If it still doesn’t make me buy it on the spot then I’ll try another MX5 and if I don...

Re: Test drive report
I didn’t mean new to you, I meant as in such a new car in age. Because used cars have been stupidly overpriced since COVID. And because whatever I get I expect to keep for a very long time, since there may not be many more new ICE cars introduced; it'll be the last of the line so now seems a good t...
