Re: Single versus two car argument

I'm still not sure about the shape of the Rapide. Saw one parked up at Bicester Village last year and something just isn't quite right to my eye.

Re: Your fleet running reports

The front passenger side alloy has been slightly bent for a while  . Got it fixed earlier for 40 quid. There's quite a lot of brake dust pitted on all four wheels. Pondering whether to refurb them and a wee colour change, perhaps gloss black.

Re: Next car purchase

If she’s getting an alphard, why do you need an estate? I don't if she finds a decent one. But she's likely to change her mind again. Has she thought about the indicator stalk being on the wrong side, the Japanese text so she doesn't know what the sat nav and stereo does, etc? Fun for someone who w...

Re: Next car purchase

Yesterday afternoon, I test drove a few 3 series. The local-ish dealer has four 19 plate 320d F31 Tourings (all auto and Shadow Edition i.e. black trim in and out). Rear seats and space are fine but the boot isn't exactly big. I'd say it's only slightly deeper than my 2 series coupe but a bit taller...

Re: Question on Quattro

That's a mental option for 700 mile trips, excellent! (Only because of the economy and the depreciation). My criteria for my new commute were pretty similar, and I have to say I'm very much enjoying the CLS. I filled up this week at 658 miles. Economy appears to take a hit on the car's computer whe...

2015?
Manual, pro nav?
2015, manual, no nav. IIRC, I added front parking sensors and cruise, otherwise bog standard spec.

Re: Question on Quattro

A6 avant ruled out. Now turning my attention to 320d. Seriously check out the Arteon(/Superb) if you're going down that route. Not sure what Arteon resale values are like but they're immensely more practical than a 3-series. Edit: £20k gets you in a 2yo 21k 2.0 TDI R line Ta. I'll do more research ...

Re: Question on Quattro

To be fair, they're decent, well-built cars. Before covid, we go out a lot with her sister and her husband and it's nice to chauffeur six people in one car in comfort. If you want a high-up, spacious and practical car/mpv, they're fantastic.

Re: Question on Quattro

She really wants a Toyota Alphard (in-laws have one), lots of space and comfy but it's like steering a boat and I hate driving it. And I refuse to own a MPV. It'll be "our" car so Skoda is a no go (she hates the badge  ). The A6 seems like a good compromise for our needs.

Re: Question on Quattro

My wife is 5 months pregnant, baby is due November so thought I'd get my sensible hat on. Plus I regularly do 700 miles round trip from Ayrshire to Oxfordshire. The 235i is fine on long cruises, but it would be nice not having to fill up at service stations and get ripped off. The 235i could do 350...
