The Supra Dupra?
Maybe they'll go with a US flavour... the Supra [Grand] National. Cough.

Re: New Supra

That twin turbos seem to be preferred to single turbo set ups (even twin scroll) by BMW for performance applications, the Supra really should have had the superior engine from the M2/M3/M4 (but didn't because BMW product line up reasons) and that it is yet another area where the new car is a compro...

Re: New Supra

Yeh I read that but as you note it only compares twin scroll to non twin scroll in a single turbo setup, not twin scroll to non twin scroll twin turbo which is what I was talking about. I understand what you're saying (and don't think we're necessarily disagreeing?) but the crux of it is that BMW op...

Nah - vegan cafe and spinach smoothie these days. I'm sure no self respecting generation Z would be putting that filth in their body.

Re: New Supra

I haven't posted about it, given how uninspiring it was, but this jogged my memory about the Renault Kolon, sorry Koleos hire car I recently had in Portugal. EDIT: actually I think it was a Kaptur  I genuinely thought it was broken when I first prodded the throttle as seemingly nothing at all h...

Re: New Supra

Which this one still doesn't quite as its an inferior single turbo set up whereas the prior lump was a twin turbo! 15hp more from 25 years of advancement  It isn't a single turbo. It's a twin impeller turbo with each impeller looking after 3 cylinders. Very quick spool up and lots of torque. M...

Re: Meet up

Does look good but its a bit of a trek from South East London - Google maps shows 2.5hrs so would be a 5 hour round trip excluding any bank holiday traffic shenanigans.

Re: New Supra

Well if you use the Toyota logic the most important part of the car is the engine. Doesn’t matter where it’s sourced from, what chassis or where it’s placed, as long as it maintains the same engine configuration as the previous model it is sufficient. Which this one still doesn't quite as its an in...

Re: New Supra

Even then I don't see that kind of change as being as much of a sell out as this (well, maybe putting a 911 body on a TT/Golf would be) as fundamentally German and Japanese cars have such different characters and re-badging a BMW as a Toyota is not faithful to their design ethos or fundamental char...

Re: New Supra

Imagine if Porsche decided that it was a bit expensive making those bespoke platformed 911s and just based it off a TT instead (even then it would have the right number of seats!) The TT is rear engined these days is it? :? Which was precisely my point. Basing something on underpinnings not e...

Sad times indeed - the passing of a true legend. Incredible that he was still a steering hand behind Mercedes’ success right up to the present era.

Re: New Supra

Why not just have a BMW though Isn't that a convertible? Where the Supra isn't? Reviews don't seem to be comparing it drive-wise to a Z4. That's probably the best argument for it to be honest. If you really didn't want a convertible and don't want to wait for the Z4 coupe which I presume they will ...

Re: New Supra

Why not just have a BMW though - it is fundamentally the same and not a badge engineered copy of another car. Buying the Supra would just annoy me knowing that beneath the body panels its not a real Toyota (and even more that it is underpowered for a 'real' Supra and not even a 2+2). Imagine if Pors...

Re: Your fleet running reports

Seems more likely it'd be the wiring loom its connected to don't you think? Amps usually don't just die completely but rather introduce unwanted distortion or have one channel fail.

Given BMWs recent issues with the fuse boxes I'd suspect its them not HK.

Re: Spotted (probably FTAO Mark_BT52)

In New York last week, despite visiting two zoos the most interesting animal we spotted was not an exhibit. A black squirrel in the Bronx. My wife was not aware that they existed. She googled them to see how rare they are, and told me that they are actually very dark brown  While I elected n...
