Re: “We’re not doing presents for Valentines”
I remember being caught by this trap many years ago... never again! Still pales in comparison to two other gift-related incidents that are still mentioned to this day. 1. Bought her something very small that she'd wanted for ages. She assumed it was an engagement ring. It was in fact a Gameboy. 2. ...

What he said I am not big on the "dirty" martini (for the uninitiated, the barman tips some of the brine from the olive pot in with your olive) 🤢 Reminds me of a friend I used to have who had a disgusting habit of not not eating pickled mussels/cockles from the jar, but would then drink t...

Yeah, see that sort of - and no offence to your respective other halves - fucking idiocy has caused me to end relationships. More broadly than that, the whole 'hint hint' or 'reverse psychology' way of talking that people have, who aren't on the spectrum. "What do you want to do this weekend&q...

Re: “We’re not doing presents for Valentines”
Absolute disaster. Me last week - are we doing anything for Valentines? Her - I just sent £50 to the DEC for Turkey so I'm skint for the month. Fair enough. Card purchased, nothing more thought about it. This morning she has gone off for her swim and I awake to find 2 cards and a box of chocs. Arse....

Re: Your fleet running reports
I'll be getting rid of the XF and V60 shortly, I have a friend who wants the V60 so that should be straightforward, but WBAC type places have no love for the XF seemingly. Same experience with mine last year (longer in the tooth admittedly). I don't think anyone loves second hand Jags, period. You ...

Re: Smartwatches
Are there any you can wear on your ankle or bicep or similar? I’ve fancied one for ages, but not allowed to wear a watch at work which is where I’m most active, making it pretty pointless. Several guys at work wear theirs on their bicep owing to bare below the elbows rules and it works just fine.

Anyone who says you will derive medical benefit from having your Bristols massaged is a charlatan and a pervert.
Re: New car!
Sensible and sound investment! It will depreciate fairly slowly if you get bored of it.
But by gum you will never get bored

I think having intercepted one balloon they have cracked on to flight paths / radio signatures and been able to rapidly find more.
But yes other options include
- We’ve made a serious bollocks of first contact
- China and the US are about to have a barney

Re: The Big Light
Mrs Newt has weaned me off using the big light. To the extent that I now find it harsh and prefer the table lamps even though they are fiddly and harder to turn on.
Re: HM ERII
Surely that will go to some Chinese collector??
Immaculate servicing I would agree (does this mean it was serviced by the secret services or merely that it was serviced secretly*?). Suspension will be cream crackered at that age if it hasn't had a major overhaul.

Re: Stag do track day
Haven't done it personally but my dad has been on a few Silverstone Porsche days with mates. He doesn't particularly rate it full marks because it's not on an actual track but rather Porsche have their own B road type layout but you're free to drive hard. Think Mercedes Benz Brooklands but more gro...

https://youtu.be/0UEjBqr8dyU?t=16 is how I always imagine John Cleese to actually be One of the brilliant things about FT was that it just stopped after two seasons and you didn't see them gradually running out of steam as happens to a lot of shows (how is the Simpsons still going?).
