Re: what car thread - Lotus Edition
How is this going for more than that lovely JPS I linked before? https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/305824225427?mkevt=1&mkcid=1&mkrid=710-53481-19255-0&campid=5339072215&toolid=10050&customid=DANSWORKAROUNDGROUPS&ul_ref=https://rover.ebay.com/rover/1/710-53481-19255-0/1&fbclid=I...

Re: what car thread - Lotus Edition
Cost me about £3.5k to overhaul my suspension on my S2 including Nitrons, Spitfire toe links, bushes, etc and everything cleaned and shotblasted (with HPE). But that was years ago, so probably more like 5-6k now just for that alone. Plus brakes, plus engine work, plus the other fancy shiny bits. It...

Re: what car thread - Lotus Edition
It'd be wise to factor in that if your donor car is cheap, it's probably going to need more doing than just the conversion. Then there's the bits that you don't need , but will probably want... I had certainly underestimated how much it was going to cost, but I have enjoyed the experience of making ...

Re: what car thread - Lotus Edition
Presumably Krypton is only acceptable on Exiges? It was called Scandal on the S1 wasn't it? Early road test 111S used in the mags was Scandal Green. Looked amazing. ETA: here you go, think this was from the Autocar road test https://www.autocar.co.uk/sites/autocar.co.uk/files/styles/body-image/publ...

Re: what car thread - Lotus Edition
I don't think they made a bad S1 did they? Or I should say, they're all good, it's just how much powah you need.
Pretty sure a lot of people really like the 111S.

Re: what car thread - Lotus Edition
There's just something about a light car with a good unassisted steering set up, it makes such a big difference. For me that's the biggest feature that you just can't get from many other places.

Yours has a few other redeeming features though…. i’m not interested in a project. i’m “time poor” as it is and have no intention of taking on more expensive or time consuming hobbies. Yeah, I get it really. The guys doing the respray on mine commented after the respray that with the other work I'd...

Cheeky bid on this @Rich B? If you get it cheap you'll have plenty of cash to freshen it up. :) https://collectingcars.com/for-sale/2000-lotus-elise-s1-2?utm_source=Email&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=SF_GoneLive_2%2FOctober%2F2024&utm_term&utm_id=633428&sfmc_id=17689949&fbc...

But of course you might find an open Exige V6 tempting: https://www.autotrader.co.uk/car-detail ... 5059393120
Re the 190 S2 Exige, is it that hard to supercharge them? Could be some interesting aftermarket options.

Re: what car thread - Lotus Edition
There’s got to be some merit in doing a Duncs, particularly if the S1 is the model you most like the looks of. Not sure Dan is fitting air con yet… I think he'd blow his budget very quickly trying to pull together a nice Honda'd car! However, S1 Elises can be had for cheap and with the remainder I ...

Re: what car thread - Lotus Edition
https://www.pistonheads.com/buy/listing/17363946 Something like that with a bit of haggling? I saw that one too but it’s five years older with 25k more miles for a similar price to the one I posted. Is that one ‘rare’ as per the advert? Meh, I dunno, I don't think there are that many SCs about, but...

Something like that with a bit of haggling?
I think there's a few dreamers out there on prices at the minute, I'd suggest playing some hard ball with whatever you decide.

Re: what car thread - Lotus Edition
I was going to say get an S2 Exige S, I adored mine and I think I paid £21.5k or so for it. Unfortunately a quick look on the classifieds suggests they have gone up quite a bit since then! If a supercharged S2 Elise per Dan's suggestion can be got for that price I imagine that should deliver...

Man, so many reasonable prices for a bit of fun.
I wish I had more space, project Elise is nearly finished, I need a new money pit. Not that there's much money left to pour into it...
