Re: Bye Bye Rachel Reeves
It was something introduced by the current government anyway, so local highways authorities having the ability to patch up potholes via isn't due to some miracle of efficiency on any given councils part - they just have additional funding for it provided by central government.

Re: The Music Thread
Autechre is one I've never got into though now and again feel I should given them a listen. See also Apex Twin, Cabaret Voltaire. Similarly, I heard Throbbing Gristle for the first time recently, which led me to Chris and Cosey aka Carter Tutti, which led me to Factory Floor, who I saw live the ...

Looks 8-)
I dont get why small cars have to be 5 door these days though. They are rarely used 4 up and access all round is compromised with short doors and apertures as is visibility with a b post in front of my shoulders. They also look better as 3 doors and must be cheaper to build!
May be a ...

Re: Bye Bye Rachel Reeves
Huh?
All home chargers have to comply with ze Electric Vehicle Charge Point Regulation (2021). This requires them to be smart, and connected.
https://www.gov.uk/guidance/regulations-electric-vehicle-smart-charge-points
Is this retroactive? i.e. if you have one that's not smart that ...

Re: Bye Bye Rachel Reeves
why they can’t just charge this as a VED I had no idea
That. Although I guess this way encourages less use of your car.
All home chargers have to be connected to the internet , which gives the ability for providers to apply time-based restrictions to charging (or charging rates (speeds ...

Pay per mile for EVs incoming
Fvck the treehuggers
How are they going to work that in terms of recording mileage?
Not a clue as it won’t be active tracking. Older stuff you have the MOT history but newer stuff no clue. I guess the worst outcome will be that clocking will ...

Re: Bye Bye Rachel Reeves
Or… they’ve got it in their property and pension pots which they were going to spend over 30 years, whilst taking far more out from the NHS as OAPs and stagnating the housing market sitting in a big house.
I can't imagine many wealthy pensioners make use of the NHS as opposed to going ...

They’re not spending £15bil though, or they wouldn’t be millionaires
Unless it’s under the mattress, their money is in circulation, and most people of wealth have successfully made their money, which means they’ve probably taken their businesses elsewhere too
Or… they’ve got it in ...

Re: Bye Bye Rachel Reeves
Tackling the public sector pensions bill should be closer to the top of the agenda imo.
Absolutely. Defined Benefit schemes with almost unlimited unknown liability is madness. They pretty much only exist in the Public Sector now.
Judges, MPs etc also get accelerated schemes so it is liking ...

Re: Bye Bye Rachel Reeves
They're all bad ideas that will further ruin services, and that will have long-term impacts that, just on cost, far outweigh any short term saving.
I don't think they're all bad ideas - most of them I'm not convinced about. Some aren't dissimilar to what the Swedes did in the 90s to turn their ...
Re: Maths
Something I've wondered recently - as the first of those who had to pay for their degrees have kids that are approaching 18, I wonder if we'll see a drop in numbers going to uni. I can well imagine there'll be many put off by any long-standing negative views of their parents towards the debt they ...

There's a couple of nice ones on Car and Classic at the moment. But they're not cheap and the rattling after 150,000 miles may be epic.

I didn't know anyone with that issue. Neither car I had suffered any issues. The sunroofs were a disaster thoughJobbo wrote: Sat Oct 25, 2025 6:55 am I believe all mk1 Clios suffered with the rear window seal not sealing so even looking at a Williams, check under the boot carpet and rear footwells.

I should point out I'm posting a lot of REP links at the moment. I'm not a paid shill....I just spent far too much time looking into owning R8's at one point  If I could remember stuff at work as well as I could about random car shit, I'd be paid much better
