Re: HMRC Automated Phone System

When you somehow get through to someone, in my experience, they're usually very helpful/good (and sometimes give you a direct number). But those fucking speaking menu things are an absolute nightmare. I never speak to a speaking menu. It has to go through to an operator anyway if you don't respond....

Re: No F1 thread?

I imagine Ferrari and Aston will write him a blank cheque. Can't do that with a cost cap. Unless he suddenly has a desire to start a catering company of course  Top 3 highest paid personnel in the team are not included in the cost cap. Or something silly like that. Really?! I didn't know that....

Re: It’s time for another forum cycle/vehicle disagreement

That. If it's not OK for a bike and a vehicle to simultaneously occupy "their" lanes - then what purpose is it serving? Marking out an area where vehicles aren't supposed to go - when there are no bikes present in that lane (?) - and not providing anything additional when bikes are presen...

Re: It’s time for another forum cycle/vehicle disagreement

Yeah, marking out lanes is a bit daft if the marking don't actually designate where you want people to stay. That. If it's not OK for a bike and a vehicle to simultaneously occupy "their" lanes - then what purpose is it serving? Marking out an area where vehicles aren't supposed to go - w...

It's still a pretty close pass and can't imagine it was necessary to be on the line like that, when there'll be at least a good metre on the other side.

Re: The Movie Thread

Went to see Civil War last week. I really enjoyed it. It's far from the action movie you might think it's going to be if you've seen the trailers. It's essentially a story about war photographers, but also paints a picture of the mindset of the different US sub-cultures. It's a bit like the 2nd half...

You're right, Rich - it's a vehicle which lends itself to adventures which is a bit spoiled by not being able to go more than 125 miles from home into the wilderness. 250 mile range is probably optimistic anyway; if you can use say 74kWh of the 77kWh battery and take my best efficiency of 3.1mi/kWh...

Re: Your fleet running reports

Just passed 10k in the Kuga, averaged 81.7 MPG overall since I've had it, no creaks, rattles or issues, it's been a superb car, I'd certainly recommend one as a family car. Massive boot, loads of space in the car, great seats, stereo, and it even manages to be quite fun to drive. If I ordered again...

Yeah but age will be playing a part now. It's a 20yo car no? Lots of brittle plastic and rubbers (I've not watched the vid so no idea what work's been done!).

As it typical of this government (or any government really) this is a ham fisted introduction to the policy change. However, in the background, I do think there are certain aspects of modern life which need to be "nipped in the bud" somewhat before Pandora's box is opened and can't be shu...

Re: Bye bye Sturgeon

What I can't see anywhere on the main news outlets are the stories about how the SNP changed the official record of what Humza Yousaf said in a speech months ago, as he was reported for a hate crime for being racist (despite the fact that there's a video of him saying it). Which obviously leads to q...

Are the diesel lumps in these any good or prone to bork? As it's JLR I'd naturally tend to assume the latter for any part of the car tbh.

He's put a deposit down on a diesel XJ in deepest darkest North England. Beige exterior, with beige interior and wooden steering wheel. I have been requested to give him a "quick lift" to Middlesbrough sometime this weekend to check that the car isn't a lemon. FFS. That has "...

I've just today received a case of 12 Brains SA. Reminded by a friend who had a pint of it the other day that I've not seen it in years - used to be the go to beer for this household when the 6 Nations was on. So I just had to order some. I had that Brains stuff in Cardiff, was decent. What are the...

Re: Test drive report

The mileage discrepancy seems to just be one MOT with no mileage recorded. All the others are consistent. I have a mileage discrepancy on the 330, thanks to an MOT tester typing 133,000 instead of 113,000 one year  I wonder if there is a way of rectifying such a discrepancy. Issue is likely e...
