Re: The Watches Thread

The sensible thing is to wear your posh shoes but change out the laces to military laces and do them up Nato style so that when you give the enemy a kick you don’t rip one and have your shoe go flying. And yes that is a thing. Amusingly, my Grandad showed me once the the "master roll" tec...

Re: The Watches Thread

They were both boxed Simon, not sure about papers etc

I'll pop in later this week for a look and see how much they are (those were the only two without prices on them)

Re: The Watches Thread

Peaking in the window of a cash-converter shop earlier* and I noticed they had a surprisingly broad selection of top-brand watches. A couple that caught my eye were a Rolex Sea Dweller and Omega Speedmaster That wasn't expected! (For any musical nerds, they also had an old Yamaha RX21 drum machine -...

Re: The Watches Thread

It's more like you're wearing a fabric strap that's secured using the pins (as you might a bracelet or non-NATO strap)

Re: The Watches Thread

I think it's about 3:30 or 4 mins in that he shows how he adjusts his NATO - basically you fold back the little bit that would normally run under the watch and have the main tongue threaded through it. The watch sits much flatter on the wrist and lose that ugly "bulge" where you fold the s...

Re: The Watches Thread

For those who _do_ like NATO straps, I saw this earlier and thought I'd give it a go.

It makes a real difference to how a NATO wears and looks.

Great idea IMO.

I hope the rest of the team gets to swear and shout at Hamilton when he fvcks up all their hard work too...

I'm very much enjoying the season so far though, it's been full of surprises.

Looking forward to another full-coverage race weekend from Silverstone now...

It's fvckin' mint. Can't wait for the album in Sept.
The follow up, 'PHUK' isn't so good IMO. Got a distinctly b-side feel to it.

But 'Tiny Foldable Cities' is great.

Re: Hire Harry's boat

I remember once seeing a Louis Theroux documentary about a whorehouse in the US. The guy who ran it had a rule in life: "If it flies, fucks, or floats, rent it." Actually owning a plane, being married, or owning a boat, just came with far more expense and hassle than benefit in his opinion...

Re: The Watches Thread

Shame about the pushers on that one as I much prefer the face on it. I don't want to be overly mean about the Grand Seikos but I view them in much the same way as I would a Toyota Century versus an S-Class Mercedes. The Toyota is an interesting engineering exercise and quirky but too much of a retr...

A handy tip for shooting in snow is to over expose a little. Cameras meter for mid grey, so when the scene is almost all white, they under expose. Manually knocking the exposure up 1/3 of a stop works wonders in bringing back the whiteness Can you do that on a phone? You should be able to. Either i...

That looks lovely.

My sister used to live in Morzine and I've always fancied going to the Alps in summer, as I've only ever been in winter.

Still not got round to it though 😀
