Re: I have been a voyeur, not a stalker

The only way I can think auto only could make a difference would be courtesy cars, but then that should affect everyone that insures an auto :?

A wise decision by your son 8-)

Re: I have been a voyeur, not a stalker

There was an article about auto-only new drivers paying ~£900 more in insurance than people who learned in a manuel.. guess it’s just another box ticked on the application so why not, but it does feel cheeky.

Wow! That’s insane. Any opportunity for insurance companies to get every penny from ...

Re: I have been a voyeur, not a stalker

It’s 120bhp. Insurance group 16E. At the mo my son is on learner driver insurance at just a touch over £350 for 12mths. Balance refunded when he passes his test (minus admin costs).
On new driver policy quotes range between £1600-£2000/yr depending what day of the week he gets quotes and what ...

My driveway is no longer BMW only. The sacrifices I’ve had to make.

Not exactly a V12 manual, so I may as well tell.
Mk VI Golf 1.4TSi SE. Found and bought just in time for his 18th.

Re: I have been a voyeur, not a stalker

Finally found a car for my son - after viewing some shockers, including claims of FSH on a particular vehicle that hadn't had so much of an oil change for over 30k miles.

Are we going to play “can you guess what it is”, or should I just tell ya?

Re: VOIP Phones

Depending on your broadband provider and router there should be a port at the back to plug in an adapter which in turn allows you to plug in any standard home phone (eg dect).

If so, the router should have been supplied an adapter. It’ll look something like this:

Re: Elderly parent 'assistance' button help please

Just noticed this product from Personal Alarms. If, like my mother-in-law, anyone is not keen on a pendent, this watch appears to have the same functionality (and more) as the pendant I referenced earlier.

The battery life is decent (v Apple / Samsung watches) and unlike the pendent has a handy ...

Re: I have been a voyeur, not a stalker

Welcome! Is the E24 granitsilber? I ask because it looks the same colour as my old E31 (850i). Lovely car (the E24, not the E31 which was an unreliable slug). I hadn't noticed the B pillar treatment before the close-up photo above; it reminds me of the C pillars of the Mercedes 450SLC if you are ...

Re: I have been a voyeur, not a stalker

“It’s not stalking, it’s selective walking” ;)

Nice to see an all-BMW garage. Approved. I’m interested in the 640 too - a GC is on my list for the future - and IIRC the fuel consumption on the 640i is impressive and not *too* far from the diesel so unless you’re doing mega miles the petrol ...

Re: I have been a voyeur, not a stalker

Welcome to the forum! Surely your son needs to have a BMW of some description or the front drive is going to be all out of kilter? ;)

He’s a little petrol-head and would love a BMW - but insurance is insanely expensive even on small engined ones. So I’ll have to spoil the look of my ...

Re: I have been a voyeur, not a stalker

Also in the market for a car for my son - 17 years old, so a new driver. Car needs to be safe, reliable, with low cost insurance, manual and not too fast or too slow.

As you know - this decision is heavily driven by insurance costs. Recent discussion here (including a link to another thread ...

Re: I have been a voyeur, not a stalker

635 looks like a late Highline. Would it have been on the metrix TRX wheels and tyres originally?

Yeah, it’s a Highline. I imagine it would have originally been on TRXs. I can’t take the credit (or blame for not keeping it original) of the current alloys - the car came with them. I guess that’s ...

Fine stable of cars you have there - I fell in love with the e24 635CSi when Maddie Hayes drove them in Moonlighting. Great Classic choice.
Same here! Loved them from Moonlighting. I guess we’re of a similar vintage.

Welcome to the world of posting on here. As I'm sure you're already aware you're doing whatever you're doing wrong. Or right. Who knows.

The E24 is a favourite of mine. Can you expand a bit on the car/story?

Absolutely no idea what I’m doing - regardless whether it’s right or wrong. 😀

So, the ...
