Re: Teh Spotted Thread
Since we don't have a dead Ferrari thread, I'll just stick this here. Whilst it's absolutely possible they could have been useless (and the outcome might support that supposition), being 24 doesn't automatically mean you don't have the ability to drive an F40. https://twitter.com/RSF_Motorspo...

Strangely the new address triggers my work website blocker - karenable didn't.

He might find himself with a need to lower the floor further in the future though - better to simply install a jacking system to painlessly raise the room above this aperture. Futureproofing.Explosive Newt wrote: ↑Mon Apr 22, 2024 4:41 pm Can you re-lay the (presumably concrete) floor 20mm lower with entry/exit ramps?
Re: EV Thread
The one pedal thing appeals because I felt horribly wasteful having to press the brake pedal on the Buzz. I assume it would be mostly regen but it definitely got better efficiency figures in the more one pedal mode; what surprised me was that it didn't come to a complete halt in that mode but kept ...

I spotted a 5-character "BYD" plate yesterday. On a VW ID4. Of course it'll be the owners initials so something, but it looked very silly.Sundayjumper wrote: ↑Mon Apr 22, 2024 1:29 pm Which reminds me - I spotted the reg JAG 5 today. On a Range Rover.

Bosch are pretty good in this space AFAIK. No idea if you can still get 230V jobs though - market seems to be moving more and more towards cordless.

He said it didn't fit under the "arch" to his drive. I mean, hence the question - Si posted a picture, which clearly wasn't the entrance to the drive, and said it didn't fit, yet the picture suggested it did. You godda zoom in on dat sharrk fin dood. https://media3.giphy.com/media/v1.Y2lk...
Re: BBQs
A Solostove Campfire. They make heater/campfires and stoves that supposedly can be used on areas you wouldn't normally have a open fire. Surprising amount of heat for a little thing 😎 Mrs mik bought a Solo Stove firepit in 2022. One of the larger ones. We used it a few times, but whilst it definite...

Re: Your fleet running reports
Spent a few hours this afternoon doing a "15-minute job" (my estimate) on eldest Miklet's Civic. The front offside drop link had broken at the lower balljoint, so was just flapping around. Of course the nuts were as rusty as a mofo, and attempting to remove them just caused the balljoints ...
Re: EV Thread
It does. You can set it to a 1-pedal type mode, have it so it automatically regens approaching roundabouts etc, or have it totally manual. In all modes you can use the steering wheel paddles to introduce or remove 2 stages of regen, and in all modes the initial brake pedal application initiates rege...
Re: EV Thread
Prompted by discussion with Jobbo on coasting in the Hire Car thread. Reasons I don’t like 1-pedal driving mode. 1. It’s almost impossible to coast without accidentally allowing the car to harvest and slow you slightly. Big heavy, slippery E-Tron coasts silently and holds onto its velocity very well...

Gear knob screws onto the shaft, but you then lock it with a grub screw to ensure it’s oriented correctly. You are describing the location of said grub screw.

Just piling it up and leaving it over winter makes pretty good fertiliser - mrs mik grew tatties & beets last year in pretty much this alone.

I saw a commercial airliner at low level yesterday in Johnyforeignland with a fighter jet sitting about 25m off it's wing tip as it was (presumably) coming in to land.

Re: Bye Bye Sunak..
I wonder how much difference it would make. Docs today take a very conservative approach to protect their patients and themselves - I don't beleive there is really any downside to them signing someone off for stress/anxiety/whatever (?) so they tend to take a cautious decision. There isn't time duri...
