Re: Car Hire Lottery

I mean, I don't care about the new car situation, I'm more interested in when it's ten years old and you can crack the software locks with a smartwatch to get the free heated seats

Re: Randomness

No, that's apparently just the standard of footage that's acceptable in private first responder ambulances.

Why spend that extra £20 on a better camera when that could go to shareholder value?

Re: Mesh wifi

I've just got it set up and I'm seriously impressed. I've got a Minisform EM680 which is an 80x80x40mm PC, and it's got slightly shonky wifi because, you know, antenna seperation etc. It was previously barely getting 250-300mb wifi and would regularly drop off the 5ghz channels on AC, and fall back ...

Re: Mesh wifi

Power supply is currently, happily, powering the 2830 backup router. So unless it's failing at a very specific load right at startup, then it ain't that. Besides, Draytek didn't offer to replace it first, so I guess this ain't the first 2866 they've see shit itself in this very specific, seemingly s...

I've always called that herringbone parking. Guess that's what comes from growing up/living by the coast. Although looking at it, that might be a similar but sliiiightly different concept.

Re: Mesh wifi

By coincidence, my Draytek 2866ax shat it's biscuits last night, so I'm now running on my old (oooold) 2830n Which is....painful. And doesn't like VPNs much. And has shit wifi by modern standards. The 2866ax is still technically within 2yr warranty, but the RMA process might take a while, so I'm rep...

Re: Parking

Totally depends on where parking and in what situation. I tend to reverse in, but a lot of the time it's no more difficult or complicated to go in forward and reverse out where there's clear visibility all around.

Re: It’s time for another forum cycle/vehicle disagreement

Yep, this is definitely a UK (and from what I can see from random dash cams) US phenomena of drivers and cyclists not respecting each other. I don't know what changed as everything was fine a decade ago and there were still plenty of cyclists in London then. Now you've got drivers trying to kill cy...

Yes, but a 911 has little things like build quality and character, and also isn't sold by a company which is very publicly and loudly headed by a weird little nazi-adjacent freak. So, you know, there's that. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ferdinand_Porsche#/media/File:Bundesarchiv_Bild_183-H06734,_G...

The Turbo S (and most 911s) will also launch repeatedly without complaining.

I wonder how many launches you can get out of a Model 3 before it grumbles about it?
