Re: Favourite YouTube Channels Thread
Not the best YT channel, but sometimes some interesting stuff. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A7eb1DHZ9GQ He's a bit Randall Munroe but can't do the maths. Boxing day Tsunami was estimated around 250Megatonnes equivalent energy, five times that of the Tsar Bomba. A slightly more credible piece fro...

Re: How do Arash Cars stay afloat?
The Fabio/Farboud/Ginetta was a neat little alternative to the Boxster/Elise I always thought it was clever using VAG powertrains. Although it's fairly damning that in the end Ginetta couldn't make it turn a profit. Like any business for every breakthrough Pagani there's a dozen Arash, Zenos, Triden...

Nice! I was born in Moonee Ponds and lived in Footscray for years.
Roads out to the east of Melbourne are good but often heavily trafficked and policed.
Out west if you venture towards the You Yang's you can pick up roads used to film Mad Max. Steiglitz/Brisbane ranges has some nice quiet roads.

Re: Decent Recent TV
Britian's biggest warship watched the first two episodes and it's very good. Short on flag waving, it gives what feels like decent account of building, crewing and debugging a massive warship.

Re: It's the weekend
Although I'm wondering why it's not nuclear powered? A brand new, diesel powered aircraft carrier seems like a backwards tech, depending on oil supplies etc... I imagine the politicians and accountants would both have favoured conventional power over nuclear, cheaper to build, doesn't cause a shitf...

Re: It's the weekend
Very good  I forget where Rob is based, but something tells me it's a weekend evening / night there. Sweating my arse off in rural Norfolkia. After disassembly of the Fucking Scenic door I found again it wasn't the regulator ("it's always the regulator" to quote the local mechanic). ...

To be fair it's easy to miss the quadruple negative.

Re: It's the weekend
Put it done to less than coherent irritation about how "an Engineer" is defined in the UK.
I don't have the correct certificate so I'm not and would never pretend to be a qualified mechanic.
The same courtesy is not extended to engineers here.

Re: It's the weekend
Wait, you're disappointed someone who went to university learning CAD, finite element simulation, thermodynamics and project management wasn't adequately able to spin spanners on your boat engine? This morning I'll disassemble the Mrs' Scenic's other door because in a fantastic feat of precis...

There's some brilliant photos going up on Reddit show ship scale. https://i.redd.it/ok9wq8lbt5t01.jpg The Imperial Interdictor is 2km long. It dwarfs anything you can fly in the game but they do jump into conflict zones to settle the argument occasionally. https://i.redd.it/z4142pqksts01.png And eve...

Re: Elite Dangerous
Spent a few more hours this morning mining pristine mettalic rings to finish unlocking Selene Jean. Glad I kept my Python multirole after being jumped by four eagles in a wing after my load of Palladium and Painite. Could do with some Prismatic shields really. With any luck I'll unlock another coupl...

Re: Ring Lap Times
That’s why I picked the GT2 RS and a Van, it has double the top speed, in fact over 100% more performance in all areas so why not half the lap time. To be twice as fast EVERYWHERE the brakes need to be four times better, the tyre grip needs to be four times better. That's why even the outright reco...

Re: Ring Lap Times
Someone explain some physics to me. Why is it that you can take a shitbox round the ring in 10 minutes (say a Ford Transit like on Too Gear years ago) but then a car which accelerates, brakes and corners multiple times faster, has double the top speed only manages to lap only 3 minutes faster? Lap ...

Re: Ring Lap Times
I think modern tyres are the key to these amazing time, that GT3 just showed insane commitment to corners. Didn't look like it had a cage either.
Look forward to seeing who topples the Nio's road car record.
