Re: FTAO: Sparky people/RichB

Its generally a bad idea powering off your computer devices overnight. Scheduled updates will run overnight. If you are using some automated power cut device this will very likely lead to issues with the machines as well as that would cause an unscheduled shutdown. Your marginal cost savings will be...

Re: Your fleet running reports

£250 sounds like a good deal, got to be at least cost neutral after selling the 2bular. Deffo. The unit had never been on a car. Worth retrying the 2bular after 'fixing' it? Just in case? I know they're not cheap - but I had my eyes opened to switchable exhausts on the Alfa. Problem is that quiets ...

Re: Your fleet running reports

Elise update. After last weekends trip to M-Sport i decided that something needed done about the noise. It has a 2Bular sports exhaust on it which was always pretty loud however recently i noticed it was just getting a bit obscene. My apple watch has noise limit warnings on it and on the motorway it...

Re: Lotus Elise S1 - tyres?

For an all round road tyre stick with Yoko AD08 if you can get them. Otherwise, toyo 888R's are a good semi slick at a sensible price, likewise Nankang AR1's are popular and good value. Alternatively blow the budget on a set of Yoko A052's as they are about the best road legal tyres you'll get for ...

Re: Lotus Elise S1 - tyres?

Set of Yoko AD08RS is the default S1 tyre.

Edit - I’m also hearing good things about the recently released nankang CRS but unsure if they do S1 sizes.

Re: Test drive report

Perhaps the metallic red. Have a look at both the reds in the metal if you get the chance! :) In the GRP? I'm pretty sure it's only Magma Red which was used on the 2023 cars which I'd be choosing from - looks nice in photos but I haven't seen it in the flesh. Is it a bit more marmite than I w...

Re: New Car

Supposed to be better put together than equivalent Renaults as Romanian roads apparently make ours look like the autobahn. I do have a soft spot for the Dacia brand, feels like it’s filled the void of good old fashioned basic motoring that ford left when it moved more upmarket Its got less stuff to...

Re: New Car

How does it compare insurance wise? The younger boy has his theory in about 3 weeks at that point I am on the hook for a car. I said not until you've passed theory as I don't want another car on the drive (we are already up to 4 and a dirty great caravan) and one that could sit around unused. Group...

Nice one! Has he started driving yet? Not 17 yet (3 months) but i've been keeping an eye out for anything good that turned up. Slightly early but it's a good car (hopefully) with super low miles. Definitely a good idea to do it that way and now he's ready to go. Have you got lessons booked yet? Yes...

That's an excellent choice - should be fun for him as well as reliable and has Top Gear cred. Fantastic value with these. for the budget he had anything else we were looking at (Polo, Aygo, Citigo) were all older with much higher mileage. My brother works for Renault/Dacia as well so we can get par...
