Re: Today’s want

A mate at work just bought a Jag FPace, he wanted a Velar, but the insurance for the equivalent model (which is presumably basically the same car) was £2500, versus the £650 for the Jag.

Presumably the insurance companies have just seen red for anything with a Range Rover badge.

Re: Tesla Cyberpuke

I got bored after the first 5 minutes. Firstly, I don't care how a Tesla does against a rivian, I want to know how it does against an ICE off road vehicle. And secondly, the initially striking Cybertruck looks are beginning to look very ungainly with familiarity. Particularly when viewed from higher...

Re: HMRC Automated Phone System

When you somehow get through to someone, in my experience, they're usually very helpful/good (and sometimes give you a direct number). But those fucking speaking menu things are an absolute nightmare.

Might want to read the Highway Code, the suggested distance is min 1.5m (or more if speed suggests)

Re: It’s time for another forum cycle/vehicle disagreement

Would you drive that close to a lane marking with another car in an adjacent lane? The answer to whether you think that was a dick move lies in your answer to that question. if you're just going to ignore what we're saying and resort to "what ifs", my answer is - it depends how wide lanes...

Re: It’s time for another forum cycle/vehicle disagreement

Yeah, marking out lanes is a bit daft if the marking don't actually designate where you want people to stay. That. If it's not OK for a bike and a vehicle to simultaneously occupy "their" lanes - then what purpose is it serving? Marking out an area where vehicles aren't supposed to go - w...

Re: EV Thread

Yes, but a 911 has little things like build quality and character, and also isn't sold by a company which is very publicly and loudly headed by a weird little nazi-adjacent freak. So, you know, there's that. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ferdinand_Porsche#/media/File:Bundesarchiv_Bild_183-H06734,_G...

It really works better on lighter colours to me - that does look good. Fuck paying £85k - I might be tempted when they are 45-50k though.

Re: The Movie Thread

I watched Poor things, I’d agree with a lot of what Mik said - acting/production/etc - I particularly liked the transition from B&W to colour as her intelligence/learning progressed. I thought there were great characters and incidental characters and mostly enjoyed it. But, I thought it was too ...

Re: Test drive report

The room above it makes it make a lot more sense.

I actually quite like the concept now I've seen it - having proper hard standing (and lawn) behind the house rather than just in front is probably quite a nice/useful thing.

Re: EV Thread

I quite like the Buzz too, but 250 miles just seems a little too low. It would mean I couldn't use it for the sort of thing I'd want one for. Loading up 4 bikes/riders and heading to Wales for the day or driving down to Cornwall with the family. I just don't see the large practical car as the right ...

Re: Test drive report

That's a really short "garage/arch/thing" - the ID Buzz isn't much over 6 foot isn't it? Got to be less than 2m all in?

I'm still trying to picture this odd set up with the back (and front?) of the garage removed to drive straight through - why didn't they just remove the garage?!
