Re: Randomness

I knew that was the venue for Chris Evans’ Carfest but I didn’t know it was owned by Jody Scheckter. That’ll be why I guess. Unless the festival has some sort of long term lease or contract I can’t see that a buyer would necessarily want to continue it.

Some BYDs are not pure electric. I think they are at least PHEV but it surprised me to find that out.

Re: Lego

I’m not bothering with the shuttle/747 because the shuttle model isn’t as good as the dedicated shuttle and the whole thing is enormous to display. Shame because the piggyback shuttle is an absolutely iconic image from my childhood - I’ve no idea where I saw it but I kept drawing pictures of it in a...

Re: Your fleet running reports

When I got that text, I did ask Dan to have a look at the tyres. They aren't unduly worn. Steering feels a bit lighter though now, and I bet my economy was worse.

Re: Your fleet running reports

MX5 has been aligned by Dan. The main dealer didn't do anything to check the alignment when they fitted the lowering springs and it certainly needed checking, judging by the text message I got from Dan saying 'Front toe-in is 9mm, should be no more than 1mm'. That does explain the uncertain turn-in ...

The Fiat wasn't made in Italy - it came out of the same factory in Japan as the MX5.

It was indeed - and the same stuff with slightly different colour scheme was badged Matsui when sold through Currys.

Dave, to put you off here's a photo of a Saisho midi system from the 1980s which Scott and I spotted in a coffee shop in North Berwick. That is a Technics SL1200 visible above it though. https://i.imgur.com/tCgOFOk.jpeg And here's an Amstrad midi system in the same place. I thought there was no reco...

WTF? He had no licence or insurance so he thought he'd try to get away from the police and go from getting a fine/points/ban to a prison sentence? Fucking idiot. I assumed he had firearms or drugs on board.

Re: NC500 in 3 days

I'd rather hire a car and stay in hotels than hire a camper van, certainly. I'd just look at car hire from normal places like Enterprise or Hertz, get something reasonable and enjoy the trip for what it is. If you have a passenger I really don't think they'll enjoy 6 hours a day of heavy braking for...

Re: Your fleet running reports

Bean, just replying on two things: - point the mirror adjuster knob to the passenger mirror and try putting it in reverse. The auto dip should only work if it’s switched that way. - a £250 plate in that format will be a Northern Irish one - they look less classy than a decent short prefix plate whic...

Re: I feel a NIP in the air...

I did read of a case where the postman gave evidence that he delivered the NIP envelope on a particular date, out of time, and that still wasn’t sufficient to persuade the court that the presumption of service in time was rebutted. If it does arrive out of time, get as much evidence as possible of t...

First or second breakfast photo, Mike? I am missing Scotland and its food very much. That does include Nef's chefery; I must recognise that because I am always amazed not just how well he cooks but how quickly he rustles up something amazing. Two things which attracted most comments on my trip...

Re: NC500 in 3 days

For a bit of context, Triumph enthusiasts manage to do over 2000 miles in old cars, in 48 hours, every other year on the Round Britain Reliability Run (RBRR). That does include a bit of my route near JoG but they don't do the far north-west. Route here: https://ctrbrr.blogspot.com/p/the-route.html
