Re: The Watches Thread

There’s a lot of risk in buying used - fakes, not working properly, replacement parts, over-polishing etc. I’d only want to buy used from a reputable dealer or someone I know. Or do as I did, chuck £1500 at some cunt on here to drive to the other side of Scotland and pick up a second hand watch sour...

Re: Your fleet running reports

Checked my tyre pressures this morning. The Audi dealer clearly adjusted them when it was serviced - they were way lower than I'd set them (29.5 rear, not 34) and I'm pleased to say I had actually felt it when I drove home after the service. The Merc was far less sensitive to tyre pressure variation...

Dell fit a 720p webcam in the bezel of the XPS and that barely looks any bigger than the Macbook Pro's bezel - is a 1080p webcam that much larger? https://i.dell.com/is/image/DellContent//content/dam/global-site-design/product_images/dell_client_products/notebooks/xps_notebooks/xps_13_9310/general/x...

Re: Coronavirus

I'd also say my leg analogy was perfectly valid - it was about whether the patient voluntarily took the risk which led to their hospitalisation. In fact, not being vaccinated is a passive thing and taking part in dangerous sports is an active decision so perhaps choosing to do something risky means ...

Re: Coronavirus

What about if you get malaria on holiday because you didn't get vaccinated, come home and go to hospital? I was making a flippant analogy connected to Pegleg's historic leg injury, btw. The point is that the NHS simply does not discriminate and that is absolutely the right way for them to be.

Re: Coronavirus

While I have no sympathy for anti-vaxxers, if you broke your leg while out MTBing do you think it would be reasonable for the NHS to deprioritise you because you were engaging in a risky hobby?

What I would like to know is are they actively looking for more scary varients New variants, yes. There are virologists looking at viruses all the time which is how COVID19 was identified in the first place. The 'scary' part is spin put on it by the Daily Mail et al. You mean 99 percent of news out...

Re: The Watches Thread

I still love the look of the Monaco but it would have to be the blue faced version not the Gulf. Nice idea, the Gulf version, but it doesn't seem to be a particularly limited edition and the colouring detracts from the overall style of the watch IMO.

Only when you’re using all the cores - so unless you’re massively multitasking or doing something intensive like video rendering it’s not going to make a noticeable difference. Hence ‘in the real world’.

Re: New shiny - MacBook Air M1

And the whole "notch" debacle is just unacceptable IMO I keep forgetting about that until I see the screen again. FFS, it's not a massive hassle on a phone but looking at my computer screen there is *always* something along the top of the screen which would be obscured. Fucking awful desi...

Re: Your fleet running reports

Swindon do similar. £425 for a minor and a major on my 3.0 A5. The same for a 2.0 is about a hundred quid cheaper. They also drop me off and pick me up at the end of the day too. I realised as I was driving home that the £425 quoted was technically for two services (oil service due now, inspection ...

Re: New shiny - MacBook Air M1

It's funny, the M1 remains so good that I can't really see the point of the new 14" and 16" Macbook Pros. They have more ports built in; whoop. But in the real world they won't be any faster, they're far bulkier devices physically and they cost so much more.

I got my stepdaughter one for Christmas last year - using her student discount. It was a bargain then and remains so now; I just hope Windows machines catch up soon because I'm tied to Windows for my work software.

Re: Your fleet running reports

Audi serviced, now on long-life intervals. I swallowed the cost and used a main dealer since it's still under warranty for another 20 months; so I was very pleased when they called and offered me a service plan covering today's the next service for £449 (25% off currently, subsidised by Audi). Two ...
