I’m not against medication. I’ve said before but the meds I take for my anxiety and depression saved my life.

There are already treatments on the nhs for the life threateningly obese and the health minister saying he wants to shortcut weight loss to get people working rings alarm bells tbh.

You can’t catch everyone, I think a decent amount of people would take the opportunity to get some free training. If some don’t it’s their choice. I had it recently, only for about a week but it felt worse than the first time I had it and my energy levels still aren’t what they were before.

That last flippant part is closer to what we actually need. Along with people to assist those who need it.

As I said above, if this is a serious problem and not just a squirrell/personal enrichment scheme we need long term behaviour change. Ozempic is a quick and expensive fix.

Getting people out of the house and taking better care of themselves is a social care issue.

There isn’t though, social care is woefully underfunded and cooking is only easy if you know how to do it.

You need to make long term changes to people’s behaviour to get results here.

All this will do is funnel a lot of money from government into the private sector, which is what they really want.

Education and support.

A lot of the problems we’re currently having would be solved by properly funded social care.

Can’t make enough money for your pals in the private sector with that though.

Let’s not forget that extreme weight loss methods like ozempic generally don’t work in the long term.

I’d agree that in extreme cases it should be an option but “maybe if we get these fatties off the couch, they’ll get jobs” isn’t an extreme case.
