Re: Harry’s Garage

Yes I was equally bored after 1/3 of the video and turned off. It’s not a good look for supercars is it.

Hypercar money (10 years ago) for a V6 - no thanks.

Re: OV9 Mini Meet - 28th June - London Stadium (née Olympic Stadium) Vicinity

Weather is looking good for it, however, I have a 50th birthday tomorrow night so if its more of an afternoon beers thing then I may have to skip. Jealous of the Iron Maiden gig too 8-) You are ageing faster than I expected. 50 already? You don't look it. I feel like everyone is approaching t...

Re: Today’s want

Mine isn't but somehow I still managed prioritise working out how to download the DVLA's auctioned number plates in Excel and then sort by plate length and discard those over four characters. I'm sure that doesn't sound like much but I work with words rather than spreadsheets so my Excel capabilitie...

Re: Today’s want

I hadn't noticed Zed had flounced... It also doesn't look like it has that fold down slot you can put your feet through on the passenger seat so I'm disappointed on that front  It does... https://images.collectingcars.com/078104/A7409842.jpg?fit=clip&w=2000&auto=format,compress&cs=...

I'm not sure its intended to be that kind of a meet. I guess the closest roads are up towards Epping forest or further East.

I'm potentially up for that. What time are you thinking (and which of your selection of automobiles will you be bringing)?

The toggle like switchgear also gives me Hong Kong taxi vibes.

Re: The resurgence of vinyl

Anyway the cartridge is now on and sounds marvellous even out of the box (though apparently it takes 20-50 hours to "run in" and sound its best so more is to come). (Presuming you've run it long enough now) - any difference you can detect? I still have my NAD5120 turntable and Aiwa ADF500...

Re: Trump

Yeah the deal was good and bad. It was effectively a 15 year pause but reduced sanctions and freed up frozen funds which Iran reinvested in their various proxies - propping up Assad, Hezbollah, Houthis, Hamas etc. Then instead of working on nukes they just developed longer range missiles and ICBMs ...

Re: Brain haemorrhages

Such a tough time - keeping my fingers crossed you reach a stable point. Its very frustrating when you can't pin down what's causing it or treat it consistently. I presume you've been round numerous doctors and may have already done so but is it worth spreading your net wider/further afield to see ...

Re: 2024 Manuel/Auto pole

I've asked this question before, been given the answer but have forgotten it again... Wasn't' there a Ferrari - a 355 if I recall correctly, with 2 pedals and a full open gate shifter. As you move the gear leaver between, say, first and second, the clutch is electronically activated and deactivated...

Re: The Watches Thread

@GG. really nice! 8-) 40mm is the sweet spot for me, I'd not want to deviate more than a mm or so in either direction. Having got the tape measure out - there's a bit of creative license in this though as the measurements don't include the crown guards - with them its actually 42.5mm I'd say. The t...

Re: The Watches Thread

Holy thread bump... Batman (see below :D ) So... aided by a perhaps overliberal consumption of alcoholic beverages last Friday evening, I put in a cheeky bid on a Rolex GMT Master II through Chrono24 (being sold by a reputable dealer I'd heard of). I woke up on Saturday with a bit of an "oh shi...

I had a Le Mans Blue e90 which looked great with anthracite wheels (which I believe were a BMW factory colour). I would go that route.

Re: Today’s want

Agree - though I think it will be largely consistent between SL350 and SL55 AMG barring some consumables such as brakes - i.e. the suspension on these is £1,000 a corner and goes wrong all the time. Would you feel better having spent £15k (including repairs) on an SL350 or £25k on an SL55. At least ...

Re: Today’s want

I don't have a huge desire for the SL in general but these are pretty fantastic value (yes, I'm aware its 3x that SL500 but still peanuts in the grand scheme of things) https://www.autotrader.co.uk/car-details/202207268147619?sort=price-asc&searchId=d3115989-c9d3-4c72-87f6-d54fef3cd63e&aggre...
