I was wondering if a metal biscuit tin works as a Faraday cage so I tried it. It seems it does.
Key near car, you touch the door handle, the car unlocks.
Key in tin, even right up against the door handle, touch it, nothing.

Re: The Wine Thread
Back in student days, one occasion after a big night, and probably still drunk, I decided to have beer on my cornflakes. Not nice. I do not recommend it.

Re: The Wine Thread
I like the type from the Co-op that comes in a 3 litre box. https://www.coop.co.uk/products/co-op-fairtrade-white-blend-box-3-ltr A lovely South African chardonnay too, very nice. The web page says 30L which certainly should see you through to the weekend. I think I tried that and didn’t like it - ...

Re: Your fleet running reports
Also, where's the autotrader link to SJ's Bentley? It's on ebay: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/296429776509 Slight back story. I bought it for £9k last March , the seller didn't tell me it was Cat N, and I didn't check, so that's partly on me. It was provisionally sold @ £7500, I changed the front air...

Re: Your fleet running reports
Sort of related but opposite, I'm getting a steady flow of people doing stupid lowball offers on the Bentley "because it has to go to a main dealer for repairs and they're expensive". Fcuk off. Nobody buys a £5k Bentley and then writes the main dealer a blank cheque to look after it  ...

Re: Motorway Mile Munchers
A bit of googling (not procrastinating, promise), suggests that the InControl gizmo (including the tracker) runs of a separate eSIM to the infotainment, and that it only switched to 4G from 2018 onwards. Interesting. So the questions will be - does the eSIM fall back to 2G if there’s no 3G, and whi...

Re: Motorway Mile Munchers
It must be the mobile network, can't see there's anything else they can use at a reasonable cost. I would ask about the 3G (could in theory be 2G). I’ll have to ask. If it is just a matter of transmitting the GPS coordinates every couple of minutes then the data volume is tiny and I guess it could ...

Re: Your fleet running reports
Headlining is leather. Sun visors are leather on the side you see when they’re up, alcantara on the other side. Secondary visors are alcantara. Dash is leather. Doors are leather top half, plastic lower half. A, B, C, D pillars are plastic. I’ve no idea if this is standard but honestly, it’s far too...

Re: Motorway Mile Munchers
Maybe a dumb question - how do trackers work, do they use the mobile phone network ? I’ve never had one. Now that I’ve set up all the accounts you need, RR have sent me an email about renewing the tracker subscription. It actually still has a month to run, I didn’t realise when I bought it, that wou...

Re: Your fleet running reports
Would it have been an option or part of an extended leather (or similar) package? Does sound a bit stingy given what it would have cost new. Quite possibly, I’ve not looked. There’s lots of leather elsewhere and it’s all very lovely. I’m not disappointed with the car ! Another area - inside the doo...

Re: Your fleet running reports
Headlining yes, pillars no. As I said, I was surprised. Even the Cayenne is fabric to match the headlining, not bare plastic.
