Re: Your fleet running reports

For a pair of them, for an engine that can gobble fuel like there's no tomorrow when under full boost, that seems legit reasonable.

A lot of the engine parts are quite reasonable, the M5 engine isn't actually special, it's just an N63 (as fitted to 550i, 650i, 750i) with more turbot ...

There’s a lot of words then right at the end it says:

Therefore, our focus will likely be upstream and focus on addressing practices that involve illegal modifications to the ECS of vehicles.

It’s cracking down on people selling dpf deletes, de-cats, egr deletes, obnoxious remaps. Probably not ...

Re: Elon Musk/Tesla

Google says the problem is sharp edges on the body, and the steer-by-wire steering is not permissible.

I guess you could put rubber padding over all the corners, which wouldn’t make it look any more stupid than it does already, but the steering seems like a hard “no”.

I was wondering if they imported it themselves, or took it in px - for peanuts - from someone who discovered the hard way it can’t be registered here.

Re: Your fleet running reports

And after all the labour to remove & refit, it would be a bummer to find out it was something else.

I'd also overlooked that a broken one would of course be undrivable and I don't have a trailer any more. D'oh 🤣

Re: Your fleet running reports

The trailer tent is well within the tow rating for the car. That shouldn't be the issue. Whether the gearbox has ever been serviced might be a bigger thing. They take it to VW, but I've no idea of what the service schedules are like.

I'd missed the "GTE" bit too. It seems to have a lower towing ...

Re: Your fleet running reports

Back at Chateau Jumper, today was time to take the M5 for its first MOT in my ownership. My local place is good, but they have a new MOT guy now. The last guy was always very quick to get things out the door if you booked the last slot of the day. The new guy was seemingly grumpy about working on a ...

Re: Your fleet running reports

£5k ?? Get out.

Fair enough a garage won’t want to fit a random s/h unit from eBay or whatever and will (justifiably) insist on a properly refurbished item because they need to stand by the warranty, but £5k is mental. That must be a whole new gearbox ?

Edit - although this thread seems to ...
